THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday April 21, 1910,Volume
XXXIV, Number 23, Page 2, Columns 1 & 2, "COUNTY NEWS By the Many Correspondents.
ROBISON. Jackson Township." [Transcribed on November 30, 2007 by RLJ from microfilm

Library.]
Sarah J. CORBIN, eldest daughter of Jesse and Delilah {JACKSON} CORBIN, was born near
Dresden, Greene County, Indiana, August 12, 1846. She was married to Hiram H. SIMS
December 20, 1866, to which union were born three children, Amanda B., John B. and Nannie
D. The later preceded her mother to the better world December 24, 1898. She united with
the Regular Baptist Church, near where she was born, in 1870, in which faith she lived a
devoted and exemplary Christian life until her death. Her sickness was of seven
months' duration, and it was only after the best medical skill that could be procured
and everything that a devoted husband and kind and sympathizing relatives and friends
could do had been exhausted that the grim reaper was able to claim his prize. She died
at her home in Loogootee March 18, 1910, aged sixty-three years, seven months and six
days. She was a kind and loving wife and mother; always ready and willing to help those
who needed help.; was always chee!
rful and everyone was welcome to her home. As a result of her loving heart and generous
acts her friends extended as far as her acquaintance, and no one knew her but to love her.
She was of a large family and was the first ling to be broken of a chain of thirteen.
She leaves a husband, two children, fourteen grandchildren, seven sisters, five brothers
and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. But not as those who have no
hope.
