Hello, List: I've been doing genealogy for years and have had the above couple in my
database almost from the beginning. They are my 3rd great grandparents; their daughter,
Mary Ann, married Anthony Hert (marriage record on file in Martin County, IN). I have
exact birth and death dates for Sarah, from her tombstone. Absalom was born about 1791
(from the 1860 census) and died sometime after July 1860 (when they were enumerated on
that year's census).
Does anyone on the list have documented proof of Absalom's exact birth and/or death
dates, with locations? Does anyone know where he is buried (I'm presuming close to
Sarah but there was no headstone when I visited the cemetery)? Does anyone have a
documented marriage date for them, with location?
Finally, does anyone have documented proof of Sarah's parentage? I know there is some
confusion on this. It seems most of the Southern Indiana researchers believe that she was
the daughter of Ale Hatfield and half-sister to Emmanuel, which is how I have her in my
records. However, there are other Hatfield researchers who believe she was a SISTER to
Ale and an aunt to Emmanuel. I have not seen, however, any good documentation proving her
place in the family.
I would love to get the above questions resolved and be able to pass on the information to
other family members who have an interest.
