THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, June 12, 1919, Volume ,
Number , Page 4, Column 2, “DIES IN ARKANSAS HOME. Former Resident of Highland Township,
This County, Dies Suddenly of Apoplexy.” [Transcribed on February 28, 2006 by RLJ from
microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public
Library.]
From the Morrilton, Arkansas, paper we take the following account of the sudden death of
Z. T. KINDRED at that place on May 21. Highland township was the boyhood home of the
deceased and he had many friends and relatives here:
“Our people were shocked Tuesday evening late to hear that Dr. Z. T. KINDRED, a well-known
and popular citizen of this county, had died suddenly at the home of A. L. ALDRIDE, with
apoplexy.
“Mr. KINDRED came into town that afternoon on the mail-hack, and at the time he was
stricken was assisting a little daughter of Mr. ALDRIDE with her lessons.
“Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim EARL by Rev. DAVIS on
Thursday afternoon and the remains laid to rest in the K. of H. Cemetery.
“Deceased leaves a wife, three daughters and two sons. His funeral was attended by his
wife and daughter, Miss Grace, who reside at Fort Smith.
“Dr. KINDRED was widely known and respected in Conway County. Especially was he popular
with the younger people of the country. That is a good indication that a man’s heart is
right when he is loved by the children, for they are more discriminating in their likes
and dislikes that the older ones.
The Unit desires to express its sympathy to the bereaved relatives of the deceased. He
very frequently came to our office and never failed to have something pleasant to say.
His nature seemed to be always cheerful, and he was a man of great faith in the final
victory of right. We shall miss him from our midst, and with all other friends extend
condolence to his relatives and friends.”
