Caryn had a great idea of sharing suggestions for copying important, but
often forgotten, records and documents. What a great idea Caryn!
So, here are a few I thought of off the top of my head....
Abstract of your property, which shows the history of your piece of land.
It can be found through research, but making a copy of it won't hurt
anything. Courthouse fires, home fires, etc. can occur.
All the documents related to buying your house; mortgage documents, loan
documents, etc. Your descendants might be interested to see how much you
paid and what the interest rates were, etc., during your lifetime.
"Hospital" birth records with the footprints on them.
Baby books.
Newspaper items such as honor roll listings, graduation announcements,
birth announcements, Dean's list, etc.
Another thing I do, much to my husband's dismay, is save ticket stubs,
pamphlets or other items we've collected during special events or trips.
It's probably kind of a kooky idea. <g> My thinking was to include items
like these along with all the photos taken during the trips, etc. For
example, our trip to my paternal grandmother's home in NC included
pamphlets about the Smokey Mtn Natl Park, the Cherokee Museum on the
reservation and other places we visited plus the receipts and ticket stubs
from each place. Someday maybe some of my great-grandchildren will look at
all the "junk" great-grandma saved and be glad to have a glimpse of what we
did and how we lived our lives.
Anyone else have any ideas?
Diane :)
