THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, August 11, 1955,Volume
LXXX, Number 53, Page 7, Column 4, “OBITUARY—Frances Adeline Kirkpatrick Stultz.”
[Transcribed on April 27, 2005 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in
the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]
Frances Adeline (KIRKPATRICK) STULTZ, daughter of Lewis and Margaret Jane (CASNER)
KIRKPATRICK, was born in Center Township, Greene County, April 7, 1871, and passed away
July 24, 1955, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nina CHESNUT, Owensburg, having reached
the age of 84.
Mrs. STULTZ had been in failing health since the death of her husband, William STULTZ, who
passed away last December, and seriously ill the past eight weeks.
She leaves seven children to mourn her passing: Mrs. Bertha WADE, of Switz City; Mrs.
Maude TURNER, Bedford; Mrs. Eliza FLOYD, Bloomfield; Curtis MANSFIELD, Lyons; Charles
MANSFIELD, Bloomfield; Riley MANSFIELD, Bedford; Mrs. Nina CHESNUT, Owensburg, and a
step-daughter, Bonnie CAZZELL, Bloomfield Route. A Son Harry MANSFIELD, and a Step-son Vet
STULTZ, preceded her in death several years ago.
Also 17 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Eva GRAY, of Switz City, and
several nieces and nephews, will sadly miss this loved one whose home was such a cheerful,
friendly place for young and old to gather, down through the years.
She was faithfully cared for during her last illness by Mrs. Molly CHESNUT and other
relatives, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry CHESNUT. Since her husband’s death, she had
visited in her children’s homes at various places as long as her health permitted.
She was a member of the Ashcraft Chapel Methodist Church, and devoted many hours of work
in the Ladies’ Aid group there to earn money to repair the church.
She gladly went far and near to be near neighbors and friends in time of sickness or
trouble, and will be sadly missed in the community.
“Our hearts ache today, with words we can’t say,
Because our dear old Mother is gone.
But through all our tears, we’ll remember the years
She has gladden our heart and our home.
Her life isn’t ended—it’s only been blended
Into one that is better by far,
And while we are grieving, her spirit is living
Where no sickness nor trouble can mar.
Having passed through her test, she has entered her rest,
And bids all her family to come—
To trust in the Lord and feed on His word—
Then meet in a “Heavenly Home.”
