This has been an on going project since 1976 - Minnie White now decased of Greene county
gave my my start on my Hardesty-Emery-Edington lineageand after her death Wilma Rollins..
Also of Greene county Indiana was Clarice Alma Hord and her husband Claude Matthew Lynch
they were wonderful pen-pals on the Hardesty line and sought out much of the information
and helped gather it and helped promore the "booklet" as long as they were
alive. Also my mother's cousin Charles Edington done alot of leg work in Greene county
for us and I done the compiling. Irene Fithen also helped along the way - she done alot of
the research on the English ancestors; and Then also another cousin and his research -
John Dean (Jack) Hardesty, O.F.M ( his Hardesty site is:
http://websites.quincy.edu/~hardeja/history.html). Ther have been numerous distant cousin
over the years.
This started out as a "booklet" less than 50 pages Giving the descendants of
Thomas and Nancy (Cheney) Hardesty. When Irene shared her early Hardesty material to be
include it was done so as a chapter in its self - was was the early Edington & Curtis
lines; and the Ashcraft lines.
When Mary Lou Combs Wiles Brewer was president (in the 1980's) I donated an updated
copy each time to the Historical Society to be placed in the Bloomfield Library - whether
they got there I do not know.
After all these years I decided to enter this into "Personal Ancestor File" - I
took my two Hardesty lines; and the Emery-Ashcraft lines out of my own personal data files
- then used them as a basis to enter the manuscript. The english data base - contains 283
names ; Thomas & Nancy's database has 7513 names to it.
You can find what I have thus far up to my mother - which is 1920 online at (there is much
more down to day)
There still may be some double enteries etc. - but I have been trying to weed them out -
and I have not gotten to my source notes as yet - trying to figure out houw to print them
out withou loads of ink and paper - A descendanct chart lienage with just names and
dates toals over 175 pages!
