Dr. John Daniel Ax
Dr. John Daniel Ax, 59, of Linton, passed away at 2:31 a.m. on Friday, Aug.
25, 2006 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Nov. 1, 1946 in Evansville, he was the son of Judge John R. Ax and
Kathryn Marie Steinkomp.
He worked at the PBS station KERA as a first class engineer in Texas. He
moved to Indianapolis and worked for WFBM Channel 6, then moved back to
Linton and resumed managing the family farm. He was licensed in real estate
and insurance, started his own business and also built Spec Homes. He
completed his education at Indiana State University and was matriculated
into Berry University School of Podiatic Medicine in Miami Shore, Fla. He
started his practice in Lyons in 1990.
He attended St. Peter Catholic Church, graduated from Linton-Stockton High
School in 1964, attended Butler University and was a member of Sigma Nu
Fraternity. He attended Indiana State University and University of Texas at
Arlington. He was a former member of the Linton Civitan, BPO Elks, Moose
Lodge and Rotary Club at various times of his life. He was a member of the
Indiana Podiatry Association, American Podiatry Association, American Pain
Association and National Minimal Incision Association.
Survivors include: his wife, Mercedes (Rubira) Ax of Linton; three
daughters, Christy E. and Michael A. Cottone of Charleston, S.C.; Patricia
K. Ax of Omaha, Neb.; and Caridad Ax of Linton; three grandchildren,
Addison, Chase and Ansley; one brother, Michael D. Ax of Vincennes; and one
sister, Kay A. Sullivan of Linton.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Elizabeth Davis; his
father; one brother, Thomas D. Ax; and one sister, Toni S. Ax.
Funeral service was at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory
Chapel in Linton with Father Hilary Vieck. Burial will take place later in
Vista Memorial Gardens in Miami, Fla.
Friends called from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday and from 2 p.m. until the time of
service Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer
Society.

Was the obituary for John Daniel Axe who just died last week in the
Bloomfield newspaper & if so, did it include his parent's names? His
obit. in the Bloomington newspaper didn't give his parents & I was
wondering if the Linton or Bloomfield newspapers had a more informative
obituary as he was from Linton?
