REV. COBB OF BLOOMFIELD SUED FOR DIVORCE. CRUELTY THE CHARGE.
Rev. John Cobb, a minister of the Baptist Church over at Bloomfield and
well known here, has been made the defendant in a divorce suit and faces
the charges of threatening to kick and strike his wife, Mrs. Maggie Harrel
(?Harrell) Cobb. It is further charged that the minister has threatened to
take the life of their child and that he has quarrelled with his wife over
the care of a tract of land which failed to furnish the family a
living. On one occasion, the wife complains, he demanded that she build a
fence on the property.
Yesterday the defendant got possession of the child, 13-months-old, and
took him from the home of Mrs. Cobb's aunt to his own home. The plaintiff
thereupon asked for a temporary restraining order forbidding the defendant
from entering the premises and giving her the custody of the child pending
the final action of the court. It was granted.
