THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, April 8, 1920, Volume
XLIV, Number 21, Page 1, Columns 5 & 6, “DEATH’S HARVEST—PARSLEY.” [Transcribed 31
Dec 2001 from Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library’s IHS Microfilm Records.]
Sarah J. PEGG was born in Fairplay Township, Greene County, on February 5, 1845, and
passed away March 30, 1920, at her home in Worthington, aged seventy-five years, one month
and twenty-five days.
She was married to James M. PARSLEY on November 4, 1866, who preceded her in death
twenty-three years ago.
There were seven children born to this union—Mary E., Sadie A., Emma N., Minnie R., Lillie
M., Grace E. and James W. The surviving children are Mrs. Minnie COWAN, of Worthington;
Mrs. Grace STIVERS, of St. Louis, and James W. PARSLEY, of Chicago. There are thirteen
grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. PARSLEY, had been a resident of Worthington for over forty-five years. She was a
loving mother; was well known and had many friends.
She was a member of the Methodist church, in which congregation she lived a faithful
life.
Her death was caused by being accidentally burned, her clothing catching fire while
burning leaves at her home in Worthington. She lived but a few hours after the fatal
accident.
Her presence will be greatly missed by her children and relatives, and also her many
friends. X.

We desire to thank the neighbors and friends for their kindness during the short illness
and after the death of our darling mother; the minister for his consoling words; the
singers, the undertaker, and for the beautiful floral offerings.
THE CHILDREN.
