John Wesley OVERMAN was born near Koleen in 1848.
He was married to Harriett NELDON in 1874. Eleven children were born to them, nine of
whom preceded him to the heavenly home. His beloved wife departed this life in 1893.
In 1896 he was married to Miss Iva WRIGHT. To this union four children were born. His
wife and one of the four children went before him to the life beyond.
Mr. OVERMAN left his early home June 3, 1915, being sixty-seven years old.
He leaves five children to mourn their loss. He also leaves one brother, Jacob OVERMAN,
of Arkansas, and three sisters as follows: Mrs. Lyda BOOHER, of Maryville, Missouri; Mrs.
Luvina DEAN, of Lewis, and Mrs. Lucinda MOFFETT, of Bloomfield.
He united with the Methodist church about thirty-five years ago, and lived a devoted and
consecrated life. He was a good neighbor and friend and was held in highest esteem.
He was a member of the Farmers Union, and the Union held services at the grave.
The funeral sermon was preached at Ashcraft Chapel last Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock by
Elder J. A. SPENCER in the presence of a large audience of relatives and friends.
