THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, October 22, 1931,
Volume LVI, Number 51, Page 5, Column 3, "MRS. A. CORBIN DIED; WAS ILL TWO

Mrs. Alonzo M. CORBIN, wife of Alonzo CORBIN, died at the family home October 14 about
12:30 o'clock after an illness of over two years, eight weeks of which time she had
been confined to her bed.
She was born in Indiana on December 14, 1857, the daughter of Nathaniel and Hilea
(MCCULLOUGH) MODESITT, and most of her live was spent in and around the community in which
she died, coming from Brazil, {Clay County, Indiana} in 1900 to her present residence.
She was a splendid neighbor, was highly respected, and her virtues numbered many.
She is survived by her husband Alonzo CORBIN, and one daughter, Mrs. Elva LUCAS, of
Linton, and four sons: Edgar CORBIN, of Solsberry; Eli and Elsworth, of Linton, and Ezra,
of Worthington; also three brothers, W. T. MODESITT, of Cory, Indiana; West MODESITT, of
Staunton, Indiana, and Alexander MODESITT, of Clay City.
Funeral services were held at the Providence Church last Saturday morning at 10
o'clock. Interment near Staunton.

Edgar CORBIN, of Beech Creek Township, a son of the deceased, is serving as a petit juror
at this term of court, and Judge HUMPHREYS dismissed court last Saturday on account of the
funeral.
