Volume LXIX, Number 14, Page 1, Column 7, "MRS. SHERTZER DIES SUDDENLY-Funeral
Services For Loveable Bloomfield Woman Are Held Monday Afternoon." [Transcribed on

Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Celestia SHERTZER, well-known Bloomfield resident, were
conducted Monday afternoon at the residence at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Jack MASTERS, of
Brazil, officiated.
Mrs. SHERTZER died Friday night about 8 o'clock at the Freeman Greene County Hospital,
where she was admitted for treatment the previous January 17. Mr. SHERTZER had been ill
for several months.
Mrs. SHERTZER was born August 19, 1864, in this community, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel {Mary (MEEKS)} HAYWOOD. She was the widow of the late Samuel B. SHERTZER, who was
a druggist here for many years. She was a member of the local Presbyterian church and an
active worker in the church.
Survivors include one daughter, Frieda SHERTZER, at home, and two sons, Carl SHERTZER, of
Bloomington, and Winfield SHERTZER of Bloomfield.
Burial was in Grandview Cemetery. Lester Jenkins and Sons were in charge of
arrangements.
