Most of the narratives deal with land patents and county elections (which
were conducted at the home of Abel Burlingame). There is one portion which
talks about pioneers of the county and states "Isaac, John and Joseph
Storms, William Carter, Abel Burlingame and Stephen Riddle came to what is
now Center Township in the year 1818,. but who came fist and built the first
log cabin cannot be stated with certainty. There is evidence that the Storms
settled in the township in 1817, and if this be true they were doubtless the
first permanent settlers." There is no indication of his family or his
origins.

Norval Melton is my gguncle. He moved to Monroe co. IN and married a woman
with the last name of Hanson, though that may not be her maiden name. Yes he
and Pervliette/Perlivette Edington were divorced.
Norval is the son of Henry Harrison Melton and Prudence Dishman, H.H.'s
parent's names were Nathaniel Melton and Elizabeth Hanson. Nathan was born
1785 in Va and am still needing information concerning him. It is rumored
that he is the son of John Melton son of Absalom. But not at all sure about
this.
Norval had a brother named Pinkney Nathaniel Melton who is my gggrandfather.
There is lots of information about this Melton line already posted on the
web in various places. If you have any questions please ask. Darla
P.S. Norval Melton's obit is located in Monroe county IN.
