Hovie CORBIN, a resident of Owensburg, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, in Dunn
Memorial Hospital at Bedford.
Born April 20, 1888 in Jackson Township, he was the son of John {B.} and Hannah (LAMB)
CORBIN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Therza {(PORTER) CORBIN}, in 1932{1962}.
He was a retired school teacher, after 40 years in that field. The last living charter
member of the Owensburg Masonic Lodge Number 700, he was also a member of the Owensburg
Methodist Church.
Surviving are the children, Mrs. Lucille VANBUREN, of Detroit, Michigan; Chester CORBIN of
Albuquerque, New Mexico; Joe, Hovie Jr., and Mrs. Warren WEAVER, all of Indianapolis,
Cecil CORBIN, of Bedford and Mrs. Thomas CAUDELL, of Owensburg; brothers, Frank of Linton,
Luther of Doans, Raymond CORBIN of Dugger; two sisters, Mrs. Della HALL, of Bloomington
and Mrs. Iva WOLLAM, of Anderson; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Owensburg Baptist Church, the Rev.
Merla CRAIG, officiating. Burial was in Owensburg Cemetery. The Owensburg Masonic Lodge
was in charge of graveside rites.
