William Sherman CORBIN, well known resident of the Owensburg community, died at his home
at 1:40 o’clock Monday afternoon.
He was born on August 27, 1866, in Dubois County, Indiana, the son of Jesse and Delilah
(JACKSON) CORBIN, and he was a member of the Ashcraft Chapel Methodist Church.
In 1891 {sic}, he was married to Fannie HANSFORD, who died August 30, 1896. He later
married Stella MAYS in March of 1904 and she preceded him in death on December 21, 1941.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Edith MURPHY, of Lyons; Mrs. Hazel ALEXANDER, at home,
and Mrs. Pearl CAMPBELL, of Kenmore, New York; tow sons, Fred CORBIN, of New Castle, and
Louie CORBIN, at home; one brother, James CORBIN, of near Owensburg, and one sister, Mrs.
Martha HORN, of Murray, Kentucky; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 o’clock this afternoon at the Ashcraft Chapel
Church and burial, in charge of Lehman Funeral Directors of Owensburg, was made in the
Ashcraft Chapel Cemetery {
