Message Board Post:
Hello. Yes, the Cooper family is a mess!!! I am a direct decendent of that line. This is the research that I have and it is backed up with documents.
Jacob Dorrison Cooper born Orange County, Indiana 27 Oct 1827. Served in Co C 147th Regt Ind Inf and also, Co A 115th Regt Ind Inf Civil War. I have his discharge papers and war records. In that file, there is a paper stating that his middle name is NOT "J" as on the marriage license.
Jacob Dorrison Cooper (I think) no paper to prove is the son of Jacob Cooper (Kentucky) and Betsey Wilkey (North Carolina) as marriage records in Orange County, Indiana (1823)
Jacob Dorrison Cooper married to
Elizabeth Miller born 18 Jun 1834 Greene County, Indiana.
Married to J. D. 22 Mar 1848
Died: 4 Mar 1885
Both are buried in the Armstead/Owen/Bland Cemetery, Calvertville, Greene, Indiana
Jacob Dorrison later married Paulina Elizabeth Knapp (a divorced lady) who must have been his housekeeper. She was the sister to Bertha Wilkie and Stella Crowe. She inherited the farm East of Calvertville and she died in 1932.Note here. My Grandpa Cooper moved the barn that was on that farm and had it shipped to Kansas and rebuilt it. Paulina is also buried at Calvertville.
Jacob Dorrison Cooper lied on the marriage license when he married Paulina. Just like a man when the lady is younger than he was. I have good pictures of him. Paulina was a Potter and mother was a Padget.
Jacob and Elizabeth Miller had 5 children. Mary E., Matt Wyatt, Eliza J., John Wesley, Susan E. Mary E., Eliza, and John went to Mitchell county, Kansas and show in the 1880 census. Susan married John Miller and moved to Cloud County, Kansas. Wyatt moved to Okla and is buried there. John and family is buried in Cloud County, Kansas as is Susan and John Miller. Eliza is in Greene County.
Hope this clears up some of your questions. Don't know about any other marriages that Elizabeth Miller had. None that I know of. Paulina was married before Jacob Dorrison Cooper. There is a ton of John Wesley Coopers in Greene County and it is tricky sorting through all of them. I don't know where Jacob and Betsey Cooper went after 1826. There is court records in Orange County that tells me that maybe they had to move because of a killing there. Good story but don't know anymore. I live in Tucson and can't get to that courthouse to read about more. ARLHorn(a)aol.com

Henry Waggoner I is the oldest Waggoner ancestor in my database. I'm his 5th great-grandson.
Henry Waggoner I resided in Russell County, Virginia. It is unknown if he was born in Virginia or was possibly an immigrant. I think he may be one of the three Waggoner brothers from Germany in the family story that has been handed down over the generations, but have no proof.
I know Henry Waggoner I served in Captain Doak's Fincastle Militia, Augusta Co,,VA in 1774. I know Feb. 6, 1775 Henry Waggoner, I. obtained a survey under the Loyal Company for 476 acres in Wythe Co. Virginia. Henry Waggoner I. died, at age 74, in Russell Co., Virginia in about 1809. Henry was probably living with one of his children, possibly a married daughter. I know about the lawsuit Sept. 8, 1809 Stealey vs. Waggoner-O.S. 192; N.S.68 and his heirs.
I only have descendants of three of his ten children. I know nothing of Lewis Waggoner, Lindsey Waggoner, Catherine Waggoner, Barbara Waggoner, Margaret Waggoner, Susannah Waggoner or John Waggoner
In all my years of searching I have never found any living relatives that descend from these children. I have five different Waggoner family lines in my database of over 9,500 names. I am almost certain at least one of those family lines ties directly back into one of Henry Waggoner I's children and I just don't know it yet. .
I am looking for the descendants of Henry's children, Lewis Waggoner, Lindsey Waggoner, Catherine Waggoner, Barbara Waggoner, Margaret Waggoner, Susannah Waggoner and John Waggoner.
Any and all information is greatly appreciated.
Thank You

I show Ray Stalcup as the son to Eli Franklin Stalcup born 29 May 1855 Married a Martha Jane Mathers. Eli Franklin's father was Eli F. Stalcup born 20 Feb 1818 in Sumner County TN, married a Sarah Jane Gordon. Eli F. Stalcups father was Eli Stalcup born 1772 Orange County NC married Rebecca Osborn. Eli Stalcup had a son named Bennett Stalcup born 31 mar 1809 in Summner County TN married a Cathrine Lydia Padgett. Bennett Stalcup had a son George Wesley Stalcup born 20 Apr 1857 married Rachel Quillen. So Ray Stalcup's Great Grandfather was George Wesley Stalcup's Grandfather. The 1910 census that shows George and wife Rachel has the sister in-law Nina(probably Nancy) Quillen as the same age as Rachel, this would fit them being twins. It also lists her as a Quillen and single age 38. The photo I have attached came from a tin I gave to Stephen Stalcup, I think he said it was Bennett Stalcup.
Hope this helps

Linda
For those of you reading this, please look back at my original posts and Linda's reply posts and reach your own conclusion about what is going on here between Linda and myself.
Linda seems to be mad at me for not getting her an OUT OF PRINT book I produced in 1998. I DO NOT have an extra copy to give her so she is now posting and reposting all over these Ancestry.com message boards and spreading lies and creating hysteria about me. Perhaps, it's Linda we should all beware.
FOR THE RECORD:
1). I had a book called "The Waggoner's: The First 300 Years in America". I created it after two years of research as a book for my father for Christmas in 1998. When I told other researchers and other family members about the book, some of them wanted one too. I made about 24 or so copies and sold them. I took a LOSS on every one of the as Kinko's raised the copy rates but I did not raise my price. The book is out of print and NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
2). I have NO PLANS to produce a second book, even though in December of 2001 I had the working title "The Waggoner's: Into The New Millennium". If I did produce another book it would be over 1,000 pages. I'm not going to deal that kind of logistical nightmare again. I am very sorry for anybody who might like a new book but it is just NOT going to happen.
3). I don't make ANY money from my genealogy research. I do it for fun and I assume most of the other members on here do as well. I don't publish it anywhere and when I do list a descendant tree in an online post, I take out the names and dates of the living. I share information with my fellow researchers and I have helped a lot of people out along the way in my 14 years of doing this.
4). This Message Board is all about helping one another. That is why I post here and I hope that is why others post in reply. I will gladly help ANYONE out if they ask nicely and all I ask in return is if you know something, anything about somebody I post about that you help me out if you can.
5). Linda. You have chosen to not only NOT help in any way, but you seek to do harm by spreading false statements about me. I honestly do not understand why you are doing this. You have had nearly 40 plus replies in one day to my various posts and NOT ONE of your replies makes any sense at all. SO I AM GOING TO ASK YOU NICELY AGAIN TO STOP POSTING ANY MORE REPLIES TO ANY OF MY POSTS.
Reagrds,
Cully Waggoner

Rachel had a sister named Nancy who also married an (Unknown) Stalcup, maybe thats the "Nina" on the Census. It looks like Stalcup brothers married Quillen sisters. I'm just trying to figure out who they were and if they connect to the other Stalcups I have.
