The following obituary is for Louisa's husband, Giles Wilson [1838-1896].They were married May 27, 1860 in Lawrence County, Indiana and are both buried in the Lowder Cemetery in Perry Township, Lawrence County, Indiana:
THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Friday, October 2, 1896:
Died, at his home at Popcorn, Lawrence County, Indiana, September 23, 1896, Giles WILSON, aged fifty-eight years, one month and twenty-seven days. Deceased was born and raised within two miles of where he died.
He was married to Louisa BYERS, May 27, 1860. To them were born four children, three boys and one girl, all of whom survive him. His illness was very brief, being sick only about one hour. He did a day's work the day before, at a hearty supper, retired about 9 o'clock and slept well till about 4 o'clock, when he awoke his companion and said he was so sick. Medical aid was summoned, but before the doctor reached the home the ere the gray dawn had begun, he had crossed the dark, still river of death. His children did not reach his bedside till after death had claimed him and the spirit of death had claimed him and the spirit had gone to the God that gave it.
He was a member of the Christian Church at Popcorn. Thus the family has lost a good and loving husband, a kind father and the neighborhood a Christian gentleman.
The funeral was preached by Elder Quincy SHORT, of Springville. Interment in the Lowder Cemetery

Can anyone confirm the death date of Andrew I Clemmans? The posting on www.findagrave.com has him b.1846 d.1872 and shows a photo of his headstone, but I'm unable to read any dates on it. I know he died after 1880 (he was in the census) and I believe he didn't die until 1892 (his last child was born in Jan 1892. According to the marriage index at ISL, Minerva remarried in 1895 to Ari Fields.
Any help appreciated.

Jim, I am looking for Benjamin Franklin Connet or Connett who was last known to be in Marco area. Also looking for Amanda Maverine Burch Morris. I know she is buried in Lebanon cemetery, but I don't know if it is Lebanon cemetery in Greene County or in Lebanon, Indiana.

Steve,
Maybe it is just a coincidence, but still, Booker is a very odd first name anyway.
Wanted to tell you, that your Stalcups lived in the same neighborhood in the Philadelphia, Pa. area as my Swedish ancestors the Matson/Mattson, Rambo, Kock/Cock, Holstein, Enochson, Gostenburg, Gunnarsson, Jochimson/Yocum, Nilsson, & Stille.
As I've worked on a lot of Monroe/Green/Owen county families, I've collected a lot of info. & have a Stalcup file.

Coincidences happen. At one time I also though there might be a connection between Booker & Lawson; but years of looking hasn't produced any link to Booker or any of his six brothers whose families remained in Tennessee.

Steve,
The Wilson line I'm helping with has Lawson Wilson b. ca. 1808 Tn. d. 1870-80? buried where?, wife Barbara (Hudson?), having a son William Wilson b. ca. 1835 In., who marr. 1856 Greene Co.,In. to Martha Ellen McWhirter, having a son Samuel Albert Wilson b. 11/6/1858 d. 10/22/1934 bur. Linthicum Cem. in Monroe Co.,In., marr. Fayette Chambers 1883 Monroe Co.,In., having a son
Booker Wilson b. 3/5/1893 d. 10/30/1976 bur. Garrison Chapel Cem., Monroe Co.,In. marr. Elsie Douglas.
Then I'm wondering if Lawson Wilson 1808- was not a son of Booker Wilson 1770-75 - 1839, then was it just a coincidence that the above Booker Wilson 1893-1976 was a descendant of Lawson Wilson, who was supposedly not a son of Booker Wilson, then why was he named Booker which is a very odd first name, not common at all?
Don

Booker Wilson was my 4Great Grandfather via his son George Dillard Wilson of Perry Township in Lawrence County, Indiana. Lawson Wilson was not one of Booker's children.
From the early public land purchases in Greene County under the Cash Entry Act of 1820, there are two names that might be related to Lawson.
The earliest land sale to a Wilson in Greene County was LEROY WILSON on July 2, 1829 for 80 acres in Center Township in Greene County east of the location of what became the village of Cincinnati near the Greene-Monroe Co. line.
The second sale on December 31, 1831 was to GEORGE WILSON for 80 acres in Jackson Township near the Greene-Lawrence County border.
Both of these predate Booker's purchase of a 66 acre tract in Perry Township, Lawrence County, Indiana near the Greene County line.
Since Lawson Wilson acquired his 40 acre government parcel in Jackson Township, Greene County, Indiana June 1, 1845, he may have been linked to either LEROY or GEORGE WILSON

There were 2 Wilson families in the area and it is thought Lawson belonged to the other one. I have not found any mention of Lawson in Booker Wilson papers. Booker Wilson is my third great grandfather via Price family. Estate papers are on file in Lawrence Co. for Booker. Estate Box 10, File 8. No mention of children only sale of estate items.
Good Luck,
Norma

Did Booker Wilson leave a will or estate settlement that would have named his heirs?
