Hi,
My name is Laura Hoskins. A.J.'s son John W. was my gg grandfather. You were asking about Mary E. Newsom Dixon. Its funny you should ask about her. My Dad remembers them visiting his parents when he was still at home. My Dad is now 73. Mary married Charles W. Dixon on 7/29/1869 in Greene County Indiana. Mary was born in 1849 and Charles W. was born in 1846 in Indiana. Charles died 1/29/1914 in Linton, IN. They had 2 children. Dannie Dixon born 1870 and Louisa Dixon 1872. Louisa married Andrew T. Custer in 12/27/1894. They had one child Mary Elizabeth Custer Rice. She was born in 3/7/1907 and died on 6/25/1997 in Indianapolis. Mary married Louis H. Rice on 10/4/1924 in Indianapolis, IN. I do not know if they had any children. When I was younger my grandmother would tell me that Andrew T. Custer was related to General Custer. I have not been able to connect that yet so probably just legend.
I have newspaper clipping from a Newsom family reunion where Mary Dixon is the oldest relative there. I think it was in about 1915. I will have to look more closely. Will be happy to send it to you.
I have a document signed by John W. and A.J. dated 1872. I also have a picture of A.J's wife. If you would like to see any of this I would be happy to send it to you via computer.
I also have John W.Newsom and Josephine Reynolds family bible
Please let me know how you are related to A.J. It was nice hearing from you. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.

I am seeking the location of a GGGrandfather who died in 1884. His wife, Nancy Evans Bledsoe died in 1877. Both are reported by several sources as being buried on the "Gambill Homestead", also described as the Wiley H. Gambill place. So, the question becomes the location of Wiley Gambill's ground in 1877. Does anyone have a source for a 1877 Cass Twp, Sullivan County Platte Book that would be willing to look up same? The Bledsoe and Gambill families had many inter marriages in the mid to late 1800s. Wiley died in Sept., 1893 and is buried at Antioch in Sullivan Co. There is also a John Bledsoe, b.1800, Uncle of John Boyd, buried at Samaria Cemetery.
A recent family source indicates this John B. Bledsoe buried near Linton, Indiana in the old Sassafras Cemetery. Can anyone with Greene County Cemetery Books help with burial location?

I am related to the Newsom's through Andrew Jackson's brother, James Henry. I'd be happy to exchange info. Also, I don't have a daughter for AJ named Mary. I'd appreciate that information also. Thank you for reading this.

Lots of Pucketts lived in the corner of Greene County bordering
Clay; there is still today a Puckett Prairie. There are many Puckett
records in Clay county. And descendants in that two-county area.

HI: I am researching Richard Puckett who married Rebecca Cleaver. They both died about 1837 in Greene County, IN, along with two baby daughters. Two older daughters went to live with a family named Burch. I'd like to know more about Richard and Rebecca, like where did they come from, what ended their lives and two babies at the same time, where are they buried, in fact anything about them. I have people with those names in Virginia and they disappear from record there. I found the similar named persons in Greene Co, IN, on a message board for that county.

Seeking any descendants of John Soward and his wife Sarah Ottery Soward who migrated to Greene County, Indiana, about 1830 from Knox County, Tennessee. John and Sarah were married in Knox County, Tennessee, in 1825. There were seven known children as follows: 1. Lucinda Evaline Soward, born about 1829 in Tennessee. 2. Henry J. Soward, born about 1832 in Indiana, married Sarah Jane _?_. He later lived in Jersey County, Illinois, and Nemaha County, Kansas, (1874). 3. Taylor, and in 1875, lived in Doniphan County, Kansas. 5. Lucretia Catharine Soward, born about 1844 in Indiana. 6. Eliza Jane Soward, born about 1844 in Indiana. 7. John W. Soward, born about 1846 in Indiana. There might have also been a daughter Mary Ann Soward who married William Beal. Some of the family resided!
in Daviess County, Indiana. John Soward, the father, was born in North Carolina, in 1803, the son of Henry Soward and his wife Mary _?_. John is believed to have died between 1846 and 1850. Would like to locate his grave as well as those of any other family members. According to census records the family lived in Taylor Township near the town of Scotland, Indiana.
