Message Board Post:
My notes on the Walkers: On July 24, 1795, George W. Walker was born, the son of Benjamin Walker (1753-1851), on the western frontier of N. Carolina. He had brothers Aquilla-b. 1789 NC, d. 1852 Crawford City, IL, and Jesse Walker b. 1796 and a sister Elizabeth, b. 1897. By 1800 the family was living in Rowan Co. NC where the George and his sbilings grew to adulthood. About 1830 George W. and his wife Margaret Ann Cheshire moved to Adair Co. KY settling at Casey Creek where they bought land. This letter dated April 27, 1851 from Jesse Walker to his brother George: "State of Indiana, Dear Brother and family, I would inform you that our father is dead. He died on the 23 of April, 1851 at Howards (their sister Eliz. Walker Howard) Aquilla has moved to Illinois. I'm still trying to serve the Lord and make my way to heaven"
In 1850 Fed. census,Jefferson twp, Dist 83, IN, I have Aquilla Walker, age 51, Elizabeth (Dyer) age 54, John L age 21, Eliz E.19 and John L. 16 (wnder why they gave their 2 sons the same name)
In 1850 Clay Twp Dist. 84, IN is found Jesse Walker age 55, Leah 52, Findley W. 11, Elizabeth McNeal 15 and E.A.D.J.Carter age 6.
In Lawrence Co. IN, 1850 census is found Jonathan Howard age 55- wool carder, Elizabeth (Walker) Howard age 53, Jonathan 25, Elizabeth 23, Joseph 20, Benjamin Walker (father) age 97, Charles Henson 32-tailor, Adam Welty 40, farmer.
The parents of Benjamin Walker,1753-1851 may have been Hardwick Walker and Mary Bush of MD and NC. but not sure. Hardwick's father was Thomas Walker III b. 1653VA-d. 1719 Westmoreland Co. VA.leaving a Will dated 1716. If anyone is interested, I have more notes, but this is getting too long. I have the complete file for George W. and Margaret Cheshire Walker, my 3rd great-grandparents.

Aquilla died in Crawford Co., Illinois. He is buried in the Hardinville Cemetery south of Robinson, Illinois. There should be a tombstone photo on my Dyar/Dyer website.
The Elizabeth that married Aquilla is the daughter of Samuel Dyer and Elizabeth Griffith. She is also buried in Hardinville Cemetery and her dates don't match exactly the census or the family records from Elizabeth Ramagos. I found other children: John L. Walker and Elizabeth E. born about 1831 (1850 census, Crawford Co., Illinois). John was mentioned in the "History of Crawford Co., Illinois", 1909 by Selby.
George B. Walker died June 5, 1883 in Crawford Co., Illinois. He married Mary Lamb on March 19, 1854 in Crawford, Co. They were the parents of: Lizzie, John Wesley, Calvin L., Charles Edward, Mary Elizabeth, Charlotte Malvina, George B., William Dunn, Simon and Dora Walker. (See Selby).

My grandfather was sued and lost his business many years ago. What records should I go through to track this down? I'm not even sure of the year, but probably the early 1930s. I'd like to go to the courthouse in Greene Co. this week since I have time off from work. Thanks.
