It is more likely that Callie Clark was born 1889. The handwriting on the 1900 is poor and the writer's 9 looks like a 5; she was 11 on the 1900 census, and subsequent census reports place her birth year at 1889.
Still need clarification on Margaret, John L. and John B.
Thank you.

We who are researching the Sinclair-Clark line are confused and request help or look-ups please.
Margaret J. Sinclair b. 1867, was the daughter of Wayman Sinclair and Francis Mason of Greene County. Wayman married Matilda Laughlin Chambers after Francis died.
Margaret J. Sinclair is in the Greene County Marriage records as marrying JOHN L. CLARK on 3 Nov 1883 as follows:
Name: John L Clark
Spouse Name: Margaret J Sinclair
Marriage Date: 3 Nov 1883
Source Title 1: Greene Co Indiana
Source Title 2: Index to Marriage Record 1821-1920 [Lacking 1828-1
Source Title 3: W. P. A.
Book: L
OS Page: 465
I also found information on a JOHN L. CLARK, but there are no dates of marriage connected with this info:
Name: John L Clark
Marriage County: Greene
Birth Date: 13 Feb
Gender: Male
Father Name: John
Mother Name: Caroline
Source Title 1: Greene County, Indiana
Source Title 2: Index to Supplemental Record Marriage Applications
Source Title 3: W. P. A. Original Records Located: County Clerk's
Book: 4
OS Page: 90
Could someone look up the marriage application information or the actual marriage certificate and confirm who the parents on these individuals are?
I would also appreciate obits, if possible.
Where the confusion comes in: On the 1900 census there is a JOHN L. CLARK married to Mattie as follows:
1900 census Greene County:
John L. Clark head Jan 1853 41 married for 12 years KY KY KY Farmer
Mattie Clark wife Aug 1864 35 married for 12 years 2 children born 2 living IN IN IN
Callie Clark daughter Feb 1885 11 single IN KY IN
Jessie Clark daughter June 1890 9 single IN KY IN
John Cross boarder m Jan 1890 10 single IN IN IN
The person on the 1900 census may actually be JOHN B. CLARK son of W.C. Clark and Caroline Clark. W.C. Clark was a minister.
There is a marriage on record of JOHN B. CLARK marrying MATTIE B. CRAMER:
Name: John B Clark
Spouse Name: Mattie B Cramer
Marriage Date: 13 Dec 1887
Source Title 1: Greene Co Indiana
Source Title 2: Index to Marriage Record 1821-1920 [Lacking 1828-1
Source Title 3: W. P. A.
Book: M
OS Page: 347
and Mattie's obit states she is the mother of Callie G. Clark.
Callie was born in Feb 1885 and Mattie married John B. in December 1887. If these dates are accurate, Mattie Cramer is not the natural biological mother of Callie.
I found a Caroline Clark in Kentucky married to W.C. Clark, minister with son John B.
I cannot find a John L. Clark with mother Caroline and father John anywhere.
It is possible that John L. is actually John B., but I need confirmation that they are, or are not, the same person.
There is a record of JOHN B. CLARK dying in Greene County as follows: John B. Clark June 3, 1940 81 yr 5 mos 2 dys male white widowed book D-5 page 59
No record of death for a JOHN L. CLARK in the Greene County death index. I know that there is an obit on this board for John L. Clark who died in 1901. The obit for John L. does not mention a wife or children.
Can anyone help us on this? Thank you.

Is this the John Crook (s) who was a J.P., County Commissioner and Sheriff of Greene Co in the late 1820's to early 1830's? If so, Goodspeed's 1884 "History" has some to say about him.

Are you referring to the John Crooks (1766-1849) who was married to Anna Doggett Reeves (1787-1823)?

Greene County Cemetery Books are copyrighted but lookups on a limited basis are free. There are three vails buried in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Washington Township, Greene county. Odus1880-1962, Louisa 1880-1950, and Glen H. 1910-1911. Someone who has typed in 55,000 names from intellectual property belonging to GCHS has committed a felony. Go to www.greenecountyhistoricalsociety.org to find out more information on researching the Vails through a legal source. www.familysearch.org/ is also a legal source.
Linda
Thank you for the reply. I knew about the Vails at Prairie Chapel. Odis is a
great uncle and last
The one I have questioned is a Jeremia Vailes at a Castle Hill. It appears
to be east of Prarie Chapel a few miles. I have never heard of the cemetary
and have no idea who the Vailes is. Are you saying neither exist? I
certainly will be easier for me if not but I will be back to square one.
Thanks again for the links.

Go to www.familysearch.com
The LDS site has the 1880 census transcribed and indexed -- there is no charge.

I have just discovered a grave in Castle Hill Cemetary which I had not know
about. His name is Jeremiah Vailes 1835-1888. The only Vailes in Indiana
that I know of during this time period were from my ancestor Lewis who was
in Daviess Co. I had no knowledge of this cemetary before finding him so
dont really know where it is but believe it is in Fairplay Township.
Jeremiah is too old to be from Lewis so if related must be a nephew, cousin
or someone near. I have never found te parents of Lewis and hope this might
be a lead to finding him.
I have just started the search today and it will be sometime until I will be
able to get to an 1880 census. Is there anyone that could help me out there
I would appreciate it. Also if there are other places in Greene Co that I
might go to to find information I would appreciate it.
Thank you for anything that might be a lead.

Would the marriage licence for 1895 show the parents names?
If the bride was 14 would the parents/guardian have to sign a statement as well?
