Hi,
While searching for some of my ancestors on findagrave.com I was able to locate the cemetery where Nellie Carmichael Turpin is buried.
Here is the information that I was able to find:
Nellie Carmichael Turpin (B. Oct. 7, 1899 D. Nov. 14, 1918) buried in Oliphant/Hobbieville Cemetery, Greene County, Indiana
www. findagrave.com is such a wonderful website that has made my genealogy search so much easier and faster. All you have to do is enter your ancestor's or favorite star's name and you can find out where they are buried and if any of the members have added information about them. If you become a member, you can also add information about a person or create your own internment list of people you are researching. This is totally free and all you need is a password and they will give you an activation code so you can add the info. What I really love is the fact that you can send virtual letters and flowers to your loved one on the site.
How to find the info I gave you on the findagrave site:
1) Go to homepage and hit "search 13 million graves records" in "find grave" section
2) When you get to the next page, put the name "Nellie Turpin" in the appropriate boxes and also the state the cemetery is in (Indiana) and hit search
3) To see a list of other Carmichael/people buried in Oliphant/Hobbieville Cemetery, hit on the highlighted link Oliphant/Hobbieville Cemetery and then on next page, hit on "view all internments"
To see if there is any more info about Nellie Turpin hit on the highlighted link, Nellie Turpin Carmichael
I hope this helps,
Jennifer

I would be interested in getting more information on this line. Sena Heitman was married to my great uncle (William Bovenschen). I would like to make sure I have this information correct. I believe I have some inconsistencies in my accounting of this line also. (I am researching the Bovenschen family.)

I believe that there is several inaccuracices in the biography of William Heitman Jr.. William H. Heitman Jr.'s father was William Heitman Sr. my gg grandfather. William Sr was married to Lucinda Gilbreath. They had Mary(my line), Sena, Henry, Anna, William H.(Jr.), Nancy, Lizzie and by a 2nd marriage Raymond. I have Henry as William Sr. brother who was married to Anna Raymaker. I would appreciate any corrections or additions.
I have a mystery and hope you all might be able to help.
I grew up hearing the name "Cockrobin" who worked on the farm for my dad. The farm was on White River near Farmer's Ferry on the border of Owen and Greene Counties. I have several pictures of him that I think his family would perhaps enjoy seeing.
One of the pictures has "Cockrobin" dated 1938 as he was "entering the Navy".
Another photo says "Clarence and Betty".
Still another says "Odon Cook 1936" and he is in a white sailor suit.
Do any of these names ring a bell with anyone? I though perhaps he was from the Oden area and I phoned a Cook in Oden, Indiana but he had never heard the name. This fellow I spoke with said he was the oldest Cook left now in that area.
Appreciate any help if this sounds familiar to anyone.
Thanks!
Terresa

I am also searching for any imformation on the marriage of Corneluis Westfall...and Sarah R Hale.
Cornelius married the mother, Sarah R Hale, of my GGG Grandfather Isaiah Hale. I think it was his second marriage. I think he might of met Sarah in Virg., I understand when she was widowed in S.C., she went to live with a sister and her sister was married to a Westfall.....Sarah then married the brother, Cornelius. We have nothing on Sarah........were very much interested in finding her first husband, _ Hale, why he died and when and where he is? Anything would be of help. Barbra Hale Berreman
In the index "Cemeteries of Eastern Green County, Indiana," I found the
names of my great-grandparents--Joseph W. RITTER and Nancy BURCH
Ritter. Unlike most of the others buried there, no dates are given in the
index for this couple. I know that Nancy Jane Burch died about 1887 but I
am unsure about the death date of Joseph W. Ritter. Can anyone tell me how
I might learn when these deaths or burials took place.? Roberta Sharp

I just checked the Eastern Greene County Cemeteries and could not find a
Lawrence or Ignatius Burch (thinking one or the other might be a family
name). I did find a Warren Bruce Burch, but he was the son of Donald &
Shirley Burch ( b.1953, d. 1981).
May I suggest that you try to get your father's birth certificate? That
should give you your grandmother's maiden name. With this certificate you
will begin to have your search narrowed.

Sponsler: As I recall, Sponsler is (was) a train stop on the line the runs SE
from Terre Haute. It is in Stockton twp., just before the Stafford twp line. It
was used as a passenger stop during WWII to take workers to and from Crane
Ammunition Depot. As to the mine I am not sure. There was a deep mine about
a 1/2 mile west, still in Stockton twp. I believe the name Usery has been linked
to this query. There was an Usery who lived across the road from the mine
mentioined above. Most of this land was stripped for coal in the late 30's and
early 40's, so it may be impossible to find exactly where the Sponsler mine was.
I think much of this stripped land has been reclaimed today and gives little clue
as to what was once there. I grew up in Washington twp, but my family traveled
by Sponsler, several mines, the Usrey corner on our way to Linton for weekly
shopping. I don't have access to county road numbers, but I hope that this
will help.
