Jo,
Prior to the 1850 census the only information provided was the head of household and the number of occupants by age range (male & female), there was no reference to birth location either.
In 1840 there was no Moses Mcguire, but listed in Clay Co. (northwest of Greene) was a Moses M. Magwire (age 40-50). No other Mcguire's in Greene Co.
No Mcguire's are listed in the Greene Co. census prior to 1840.

THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, November 28, 1935,Volume LX, Number 5, Page 8, Column 3, “William H. Terrell Dies at Home Here.” [Transcribed on August 19, 2006 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]
William Hastings TERRELL, seventy-four years old, a well known retired farmer, died Monday at his home in Bloomfield. He had been in failing health for several months. He was born April 9, 1861, the son of Hezekiah and Sarah (SHIELDS) TERRELL, and his life was spent in this community. A few years ago while driving his truck along State Highway 54, four miles east of here, he accidentally stuck a wagon driven by William HAMLIN, a farmer of that community, who was thrown from his wagon to the concrete highway and killed. Worry over that accident is believed to have laid the foundation of his final illness.
He is survived by his widow, one son, Samuel TERRELL, of Switz City, and four daughters, Mrs. Merva STANFIELD, of Linton; Mrs. Tillman ABRAMS and Mrs. Philip BORDERS, both of Bloomfield, and Mrs. Mary KIDD, of Detroit, Michigan.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he was a member, conducted by the pastor Rev. M. A. FARR. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery.

Thank you very much for all the great infromation. Would it be to much trouble for you to check the 1840 Census, Greene Co., IN to see if there was a Moses McGuire b. Abt. 1798? I was wondering if Moses lived near Thomas McGuire (age 60-70 yrs) listed in the 1840 Greene Co., IN census you mention in your post? Or is there anyone else with the surname McGuire in the 1840 Census? Does the 1840 Census, Greene Co., IN state where Thomas McGuire was born?

I have a great grandfather Zeno Hollowell (by marriage) who was born in 1849 and died in 1925. I got this information from his tombstone at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. He married Hannah Catherine Meredith 15 February 1883. They had a son Carlton born in 1887, also buried at Floral Park, as well as a daughter Netia who is my grandmother. Hannah died at my grandmother's home in 1945. I do not know if this is the same Zeno Hollowell who married Amanda Rider. I would love to confirm that this is the same Zeno Hollowell with a father Henry and mother Rebecca Cox.
