Thanks for the response! Do you have any documentation showing that Elizabeth Hale and William Bullock are definitely the parents of Malinda Bullock?

Malinda was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Hale Bullock. William died 1 October 1842 and Elizabeth was remarried by 1850 to John Cole so in the 1850 Highland twp., Greene Co., IN census the Bullock children are listed with John and Elizabeth Cole.

I'm trying to find the 1850 census information for Greene County. Malinda was born November 19, 1842 in Greene County. I was hoping to find out the names of her parents if I could find her listed in the 1850 census. Does anyone have this information?

Thanks to all for posting and the suggestions. I know of both Jasper Hardestys and am confident that we are correct in assuming an error on the Industry Cemetery post. I attempted to contact the original poster and email failed to deliver. I posted an inquiry on the County site in question and have not received a reply.
I also agree that the hardesty has been heavily researched with many supporting documents in Greene County. I suspect we owe a debt of gratitude to The Society for a lot of that data.
If Linda Sharp (the Pres.) would like to share what she has available, I'm sure there are many of us who would like to compare notes.

Elizabeth McCain's sister Margaret is my 4Great-Grandmother.
A Pamphlet at Indiana State Library:call number:
R929.2 K No.6 " William King Family"
12/6/ 1981by Ernest R. Davidson, says that the marriage record for the September 17, 1800 marriage of William King and Margaret McCain in Lincoln County,Kentucky show her father as Robert McCain and Bondsman as James McCain. Perhaps this is her Grandfather -- or another brother.
William King is shown in the 1810 Census in Casey Co.,KY. Casey County was created from Lincoln Co. in 1806.
On December 16, 1816, William King & Robert McCain secured two 80 acre parcels from the Federal Govt. in what is now Indian Creek Twp.,Monroe Co.,IN. per land patent BLM files:
W/SE-S13;T7N, R2W (80acres)
E/SE-s-13;T7N, R2W (80acres)
The second patent was later relinquished to the Govt.; but reacquired by William King's heirs June 23, 1831.
William died in 1827 and his will probated in Monroe Co.,Indiana. His widow later married William Dowden of Taylor Twp., Greene Co.,Indiana on May 12, 1837 in Greene County. She died in 1846 and is buried in Dowden Cemetery in Taylor Twp. A memorial marker added later in the 20th Century erroneously has her maiden name as KUTCH.

There were two individuals named Jasper Hardesty in Greene County in the 19th Century. Jasper N. Hardesty [1862-1949] was the son of Richard Hardesty and Sarah Imhoff who lived in Center Twp. The other Jasper Hardesty [1838-1898] was the son of Aquilla Hardesty and probably his second wife,Elizabeth Murphy . Aquilla was also the father of Richard Hardesty by his first wife, Catherine Meek who died in Ohio 1837. This Jasper 'Jap' Hardesty was married to the widow of William H. Mansfield,Sr. and ran the Mansfield general store in Koleen in the 1890s
per Claude M. Lynch in his book on Koleen.
Untangling the Hardesty family links in Greene County is difficult and endless.
Can anyone tell me where this woman ( my GG Grandmother) is buried?
Thank you very much-Paul

Just a short reminder to the vets and newbies at this site of my free research for the asking here at Andersonville. Of the 41000 Union soldiers on record, 1954 are from Indiana.
Please email me directly at Frye(a)pstel.net with request so we dont tie up the county site.

Thank you for your response on the Monk's.
Are you related to the Monk line?
I am related to the HUNTER's who was Sidney Stalcup's first husband. I see from the 1860 census that Sidney & John Monk had six children from 1848 to 1859, these would be cousins to my STALCUP/HUNTER/MONK lines.

Dave, I thought about your interest in Mt. Nebo church which is on an old road that leads to Newberry. The Monks probably lived not too far from there, but more in an eastern direction in Taylor township in Greene county or perhaps across the line into Martin county. Have you checked the 1880 census listed on www.familysearch.org? Sorry I don't know about their exact location.
