I am a descendent of Martha's daughter Hannah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Waggoner. Lizzie was born 8/30/1866, but her mother married Reuben Long the following year, on 6/13/1867. On Lizzie's marriage record, her last name is listed as Haskett (not Long) and her father's name is blank. On her death certificate, her father's name is listed as unknown. Does anyone have any information on Lizzie's real father?

Also, confirm the death dates and birth dates, if listed.

Michelle, thanks for the suggestion to inquire with the Greene County
Library. I'll follow up on your lead & try to contact them. I think that
I've seen that they don't have any microfilmed newspapers back as far as I'm
wanting to see (1870-1872). I looked in the death index & didn't find my
Mazie (Stamper) Arthur listed there. I'm going to have to find a more
detailed listing for the Solsberry Cemetery. She might be buried there but
there may not be a marked grave or maybe noone made any notes about her
death & burial.

THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, November 13, 1930, Volume , Number 2, Page 1, Column 2, “SETH LAUGHLIN, 76, DIED NOVEMBER 8—Was Pioneer Citizen of Jackson Township, and Reared a Respected Family.” [Transcribed on February 15, 2006 by RLJ from the original newspaper on file in the Office of the Recorder of Greene County, Court House, Bloomfield, Indiana.]
We are indebted to the Robison correspondent for an account of the death of one of Greene County’s pioneer citizens, and is as follows:
Seth LAUGHLIN, a highly respected citizen, and a resident of Jackson Township for more than sixty years, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harley PAGE, in East Bloomfield November 8, 1930, and was brought to Ashcraft Chapel Sunday, where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Logan HATFIELD in the presence of a large assembly of relatives neighbors and friends who extend to the bereaved family their heartfelt sympathy.
Mr. LAUGHLIN was held in high esteem among his large acquaintance, as was evidenced by the large crowd that came to pay a last tribute of respect. He was an honest, conscientious citizen and an accommodating neighbor. He was a lover of good literature; was a deep thinker and was much interested in the uplifting of humanity. He believed in the advancement of education, and although the opportunities for an advanced education for himself were limited, he taught several years in the rural schools, and while he had not accumulated a vast amount of this world’s wealth, he sacrificed of his time and money that his children might get a good education and it was comforting to him in his declining years to know he did his part in rearing a family of which Greene County is proud.
He has four sons and one daughter, who are Greene County’s best products as teachers. Butler, the eldest son, is president of the Chicago State Normal; Lester, principal of the Orleans High School, and Harvey, principal of the Decker High School. He is also survived by another son, Frank, and the daughter, Mrs. Harley PAGE, at whose house he resided during the declining years of his life.
He was seventy-six years of age.
Interment was in Ashcraft Chapel Cemetery { http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4292716359 }.

THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, April 27, 1922,Volume XLVI, Number 24, Page 1, Column 3, “DEATH’S HARVEST. Laughlin.” [Transcribed on February 15, 2006 by RLJ from the original newspaper on file in the Office of the Recorder of Greene County, Court House, Bloomfield, IN.]
Mrs. Amanda (BYERS) LAUGHLIN, daughter of Joel and Elizabeth {RAINBOLT} BYERS was born January 9, 1854, and died April 18, 1922, aged fifty-eight years, three months and eight days.
She was married to Seth LAUGHLIN in April 1883. To this union were born ten children—one daughter, Lula, dying in infancy, and one son, Charles, dying at the age of thirteen. The remaining children are Lester, of Cayuga; Mrs. George Corbin, of Illinois; Butler, of Chicago; Harvey, of Owensburg; Frank, Edna and Wayne, at home, and Mrs. Roscoe LONG, of Worthington.
Mrs. LAUGHLIN was a mother who devoted her life to the welfare of her children; a loving mother, a devoted wife and neighbor to all whom she knew; and who will be sadly missed by all. The sacrifice she made for her children was not in vain. The appreciation of what she had done was shown by the motherly love and care her children gave her as she grew older.
She united with the Methodist church at Union when but a child. Although she never attended church very often, she was spending her times caring for her children.
Although a sad loss to the family, we know her trials are over and we feel she is at rest. God is a just God who will reward us according to our deeds.
The funeral services were held last Thursday, April 20, at 10 a.m., at the Ashcraft Chapel, conducted by Elder Quincy FERGUSON, of Kirby. Interment in the Ashcraft Chapel Cemetery

She died March 22, 1889.
The "Woodall book" in the Sullivan public library indicates that she was the daughter of James Woodall and his first wife Nancy Adamson. However, the census records don't match up with the birthdate. I thought she might be the Nancy who was Liberty's daughter, but your info is different. Can you be of any help?

I received your census info. I can't seem to reply to your e-mail, so I'm replying here. It doesn't appear that that is THE David H Larr, since the dates of birth are off. David H was born in Pennsylvania in 1817.
However, perhaps to put the pieces together I have to rule certain things OUT.
THANK YOU!

Karen,
I am also the GGG granddaughter of David Hunter Larr. Have you found out anything else on him? I know this messge was posted several years ago. Seems like most people get stuck on David Hunter Larr. Nobody seems to know about his PA roots.
I do see one thing of interest: In that census, there is a Clarisa Larr listed, being 57 years old. My imagination tells me that she is David's mother and perhaps her maiden name was Hunter. And, the older children (Eliz. Barbara, John, George) are actually David's siblings.

Robert E. Hubbard of Springville & New Castle, Indiana was killed in the South Pacific during War ll. He was in the 511th Parachute Infantry, 11th Airborne Division. His status is missing or buried at sea and his name is honored on the Tablets of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines.
Hello, I am a retired American veteran residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. A year ago we visited the memorial as visitors but came home with a mission in our hearts. As we gazed over the beautifully manicured acres and the 17,202 American graves, it was obvious only a few families had ever visited their graves.
I stepped into the soft grass and focused my camera on one of the white crosses, a grave of an Ohio soldier. A strange calmness was in the air as I walked a few more steps and a cross of an Indiana soldier lay square in my path. The letters of the inscription on the marker was bolder than ever, here lay a soldier from my home state.
At that moment a quiet brainstorm aroused my humble thoughts. I wondered if I could locate any of the families of these men. My stride became more defined and within a few moments I had located and photographed eight more graves.
Since those gut-wrenching but touching moments we have energized our efforts in finding the families of these American men from Indiana. We have located well over 100 and have delivered the FREE photographs to them via email.
Please visit our website and see the men we have honored and the families we have assisted in finding a more genuine closure of a horrible tragedy.
http://fizkid.tripod.com/
Our success in finding the families was the result of journalists, amateur genealogists, historians, historical societies, librarians and lots of wonderful Hoosiers and those with Indiana ties across America.
During our search we have also reached families from other states as well and have filled special requests for photos from the Manila American Cemetery. We presently have photographed only the graves of the Indiana soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen; however we have photographed all of the names that are engraved on the "Tablets of the Missing". We offer them free of charge to anyone who asks.
We ask for your help in finding their families. We understand this is a genealogy board but we do not need immediate genealogy in that form, we need leads to find the families. Please become one of our special volunteers today and find the family of an Indiana serviceman from near your home. A list of the men from your Indiana county is available, free and all you must do is request it.

THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday August 11, 1927, Volume LI, Number 40, Page 2, Columns 2 & 3, “DEATH’S HARVEST. FLORY.” [Transcribed on February 12, 2006 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]
Clara Alice FLORY, youngest daughter of David and Emma {BARGE} KILLINGER, was born near Bloomfield, January 31, 1887, and departed this life August 1, 1927, after an illness of several months, at the age of forty years, five months and one day.
She was converted and united with the Methodist church at Allen Chapel when she was young and was an active member in Sunday school and church work, but in later years the responsibilities of her family and mother did not permit her to continue an active part in the church, but her consistent Christian life in the home was her testimony each day and her faith grew stronger in her blessed Savior as she felt her mission on this earth was almost filled.
She was united in marriage to Elmer FLORY September 29, 1907. To this union ten children were born, five girls and five boys, all of whom are living except two, Dorothy Mae, infant daughter, who preceded her about three years ago, and Mildred, eldest child, who preceded her about three years ago at the age of nineteen years. Also Clara’s mother, who made her home with her, passed away August 4, 1927. She with her daughter were laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery. But we do not grieve as if we had no hope because they have left their testimonies that they had made their peace calling and election sure and kept the faith, and today so far is an unbroken family in Heaven. May it still be so as we pass one by one that we, too, can say as Paul said “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept thy faith.”
Clara was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a sincere friend. She always strove to make her home pleasant for her family, ever thinking of others instead of herself. She expressed her desire to live and care for her children and see them grown although she was submissive to the Lord’s will and bore her suffering patiently. She often said she was perfectly ready and anxiously waiting to go, never complaining. When her mother, seemingly in good heath was stricken with paralysis, she bore it patiently and put her trust in God, who does all things well, as they were both so near death they were not permitted to see each other. Her sad “goodbye” to mother and Mildred on this earth was only to say “good morning” over there, where all is joy and happiness throughout eternity.
While we are grieved today over the parting of this loved, we do not grieve as those who have no hope because our loss is Heaven’s gain. May God fill the vacancy in the home.
Those left to mourn their loss of a devoted wife and mother, besides the husband are eight children, Mrs. Lois BURKHART, of Bloomfield; Cecil, Esther, Eldo, Dale, Marjorie, Max and James Arnold. Also two brothers, John KILLINGER, of Lyons, and Will KILLINGER, of Bloomfield; two sisters, Mrs. Eva HAMLIN and Mrs. Minnie SIMS, of Worthington, and a host of relatives and friends. Her father and two sisters preceded her in death several years ago.
Dear mother from us has gone, the voice we loved is still; a place is vacant in our home, that never can be filled.
—
We wish to express our sincere thanks to our friends and neighbors in our sad bereavement over the death of our beloved wife and mother; also to Rev. BALIFF for his kind words of comfort; Mr. KIDD, the singers and those who gave flowers.
ELMER FLORY AND FAMILY.
