Albert Leroy Bernes of Linton Indiana was killed October 9, 1942, while serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
He is officially listed as missing or buried at sea and his name appears on the “Tablets of the Missing” at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. We are seeking information regarding his military and civilian life and especially locate family members still living so we can send them the free photographs of his grave site and the beautiful memorial in the Philippines.
I am a retired Hoosier from Madison County Indiana residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We are seeking family and military information of nearly a thousand servicemen from Indiana killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. Please visit our website to see the beautiful memorial located in Manila, Philippines.

We visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. Please help us find the families that might be still living of the men that gave their lives for our freedoms.
Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date. These are the most helpful in finding the families.
If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times.

Williams father was William Newsom, Sr, who came to America in 1635 aboard the "George" , having paid the passage of 11 persons he was entitled to a total head right of 550 acres, for which he obtained a patent (Deed). Hi Kent,
My great grandmother was the daughter of John Newsom son of A.J. Newsom. I actually have in my possession a Loan document or check signed by AJ Newsom and John Newsom. James Newsom also appears on the document. It is dated November 24, 1877. I couldn't figure out your connection to the Newsoms. The farthest I have been able to trace this family is back to Thomas Newsom from Virginia with a birthdate of 1685. Do you have any additional info.
Thanks

Hi. I am looking for some information on Anna Pearl Franklin's family.
She was married to my Greatgrandfather, Loris Souders/Sowder on July 20 1920 in Greene County IN.
All I have is her parents names as Sarah Sheets and Joseph Franklin.
On the marriage certificate for Anna and Loris, it says that Joseph is deceased, and Sarah Sheets signed the certificate for Anna.
I believe that Joseph was born around 1867 according to census records, and his parents are James R. Franklin and Malinda. In the Greene Co. death records, I found a Joseph Franklin with the death date of 11-24-12, which would make him dead at the time of Anna's marriage.
I believe Sarah Sheets was born around 1872 according to census records and a death record stating that Sarah Franklin dies on 5-1-42, in Greene County...IF these are the correct people.
I have Anna Pearls information as the following:
bd: Oct 1904/1906
place: Greene Co. IN, maybe Scotland IN
death:July 28 1969
place: Greene County IN
If anyone could help me on this it would be greatly appreciated !! My family seems to know nothing about this, and my Grandfather, who would/might know has passed away.
