Thomas O'Haver was born July 8, 1862, died February 10, 1939. His
funeral service was held February 12, 1939, at the Embury Church. Rev. Nola
Yoder was the officiating minister for his funeral. Burial was in the Lebanon
Cemetery. The funeral arrangements were by Mathers Service. (The foregoing
information was taken from the funeral memorial card.)
I'm, at this point, assuming that Thomas' death, funeral, and burial
occurred in Greene County, Indiana.
Can anyone tell me:
1. Where is/was the Embury Church located?
2. Where was Mathers (funeral) Service located?
Thanks. Sam Cline
This is for the administrator of this list, sorry friends, I don't have that
person's individual e-mail address...
Is it possible to the Subject of items be listed without all the additional
bs, i.e., "=?UTF-8?Q?" which does nothing, adds nothing, or helps with the
reading of "Subject" rather than causing us to take the time to read each message
in its entirety prior to sending the messages to the trash can??
Subjects should be brief enuff that will give the reader a chance to decide
to take the time to read or pass it by.

THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, July 30, 1931, Volume LV, Number 39, Page 1, Column 1, “AGED CITIZEN DIED, SUNDAY—Mrs. Dona Laughlin, Respected Widow, eighty-two Years of Age, Died on Birthday.” [Transcribed on November 20, 2005 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]
Mrs. Dona LAUGHLIN, one of Bloomfield’s highly respected and esteemed citizens, passed from this earth to her heavenly reward last Sunday, July 26, at 10 o’clock a.m., after an illness of several weeks’ duration—having reached the age of eighty-two years on life’s journey—passing on her birthday.
Following is the life’s history of this esteemed woman as read by the minister at her last sad rights.
Dona Cenora LAUGHLIN, daughter of Harrison Allen and Elizabeth Wilson (AUSTIN) TERRELL, was born near Milton, in Caswell County, North Carolina, July 26, 1849. She was the last of a family of six children—five girls and one boy—Mary, Martha, Annis, Elizabeth, Dona and brother, William Thomas TERRELL.
Harrison TERRELL brought his family to Indiana in February, 1868, from Reidsville, North Carolina, and located one and one-half miles south of Scotland.
On May 2, 1875, Dona TERRELL was married to Joseph Hamilton LAUGHLIN, at Scotland, Indiana. To this union was born nine children, of which four sons survive—Harrison Edgar, of Linton; Oscar R., of Greensburg; Ray G. and Ira T. LAUGHLIN, of Bloomfield. A daughter, Alma Bell WARREN, died September 11, 1925. She also leaves ten grandchildren. The oldest grandson, Gale LAUGHLIN, having passed away June 1, 1931.
She was converted and joined the Baptist Church at Hogan Creek, North Carolina, in the year 1867, and when she came to Indiana she transferred her membership to the Scotland Baptist Church, later transferring it to the Bloomfield Baptist Church, where she has been a faithful member these many years.
Her husband, Joseph Hamilton LAUGHLIN, died June 10, 18989, leaving her the care of the family, three of whom were still small. She cared for them and reared the four boys and one girl to be useful and respected citizens of the community.
Mrs. LAUGHLIN was a woman who was loved and respected by all who knew her, having a sweet Christian spirit and a rare sense of humor which endeared her to all who came in contact with her.
For the last few years she spent the winter with her son, Oscar, and wife, at Greensburg, but was delighted to be back in her own home for the summer where she could see and be with her old friends and neighbors.
She was stricken about three weeks ago and passed away Sunday morning, July 26, on her eighty-second birthday. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
But she lived so close to her Lord that to her it was only a step into eternity where she has been ushered into all the joys of the blest, and reunited with those who have gone on before.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, July 28, from the residence, with Rev. A. L. TIDRICK, pastor of the Baptist church officiating, assisted by Rev. J. N. A. DOWNEY. Interment in Grand View Cemetery.
The pallbearers were the sons—Edward, Oscar, Ira and Ray LAUGHLIN, and son-in-law Chalmer WARREN, and grandsons, Chester and Lloyd LAUGHLIN and Leslie WARREN.
Out-of-town relatives in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. William CORRELL, of Odon; Mr. and Mrs. Emmett HEATON, Linton; Mrs. Susan TERRELL, Mrs. Karl WOLFE and Mrs. John CLAPP and son John, Beech Grove; Mrs. Cynthia DENNY and family of Scotland; Mrs. Lulu MOULDEN, Bloomington; Mrs. Belle DECKARD, Lyons; Mrs. Clara SHONK, Linton, and Miss Edith GRAY, Indianapolis.
