Crushed by a stone which fell on him as he was working in the Hart slope mine near Owensburg, Robert{Zelbert} SWANGO, thirty, of Owensburg, was instantly killed shortly after noon last Thursday.
SWANGO was working with his brother and other miners shortly after noon Thursday when the large stone became dislodged and fell, crushing his head and shoulders.
The other miners who were working at the HART mine immediately began the work of removing the stone, and removing the dirt which accompanied the stone in its fall, but when the stone and the dirt was removed SWANGO was found dead.
The HART mine which is situated three and one-half miles west of Owensburg, is a slope mine, working about thirty inches of coal, and usually employed four or five men.
SWANGO, who is survived by a wife and two children, was well known in the Owensburg community, where he had made his home for many years.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Everett LEHMAN funeral home in Owensburg.

THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, March 24, 1938,Volume LXII, Number 21, Page 8, Column 3 & 4, “DEATH’S HARVEST—HUNTER.” [Transcribed January 20, 2004 from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]
At the beginning of a new day, as the rolling stream of life flowed onward, God in His wisdom, took from us a dear husband, father and friend.
William Lincoln HUNTER, son of William J. and Emma (BUCKNER) HUNTER, deceased, was born in Highland Township Greene County, Indiana, December 6, 1863. He was united in marriage to Miss Hannah JOSEPH on July 22, 1900. To this union were born the following children: Harold, of Sullivan; Earl, of Solsberry; Ernest, John and Albert, at home. A nephew, Oren HAMILTON, at an early age, was taken into this home and reared as a son.
Although he was not affiliated with any church on this earth, by his daily living and the peaceful smile on his face before his passing on, we are assured of his affiliation with Christ’s Church in heaven. He often expressed his desire and readiness to go “home” to be with his mother and loved ones who preceded him.
He was a farmer by profession, always interested in his work. As a neighbor he was willing to offer his help at any time. He valued his friends highly and received much joy in having them visit him during his illness. He was a devoted husband and a loving father.
The past eight years his health had been failing, but with his suffering eh was considerate of the welfare of those about him. He passed away on March 11, 1938, at the age of seventy-four years, three months and five days.
He leaves to mourn his departure besides his wife and sons, there sisters, Mrs. Winnie COX, Miss Ella HUNTER, Mrs. Mollie BARGE, all of Bloomfield; two brothers, Winfred of Calvertville, and Frank, of Bloomfield. Five brothers and one sister have preceded him in death. He also leaves the following grandchildren, who were very dear to him: Donald, Billy Ira, Marjory and Bill Lee HUNTER, and a host of other relatives and friends.
—
We wish to extend sincere thank and appreciation for the many kindnesses, the sympathy, and the beautiful floral offerings received during the illness and death of our beloved husband and father. We especially wish to thank Rev. Joe WALLS for his words of consolation, the singers, and Jenkins & Kidd undertakers.
Mrs. Hannah Hunter and Family

In the Search: block above left, below Message Boards, enter the following : Mariah (WRIGHT) HILL, then select the Greene Board, then click on GO! This should bring up the obituary, among others.
Some surnames, especially those used in placing the 1908 Biographies did not use capital letters other than in the first letter in the names, therefore, you might need to also search, say using "Mariah (Wright) Hill" may bring up different results from the search.

Mary G. FOSTER was born February 20, 1847; died September 13, 1915, at her home in Taylor Township, aged sixty-eight years, six months and twenty-three days.
She was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth {QUILLEN} HATFIELD, and was born and reared in Taylor Township.

There are ten grandchildren whom she loved almost as dearly as her own children, ever having their welfare at heart. Two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth HAYWOOD and Mrs. N. J. He was a kind father, a dutiful son, a loyal husband, and an accommodating neighbor. Those of us who knew him well admired him for what he was. Of such as him we may say with the poet:
