Thomas Lynn and Mary Ann Vest were married 14 Apr 1844 in Greene Co., IN. Children were: George W., William L., John, Mary J., Simeon L., Martha L., and Sarah E. The last place I have been able to find this family is the 1870 Greene Co., Washington Twp. census. Does anyone have any information regarding what happened to this family after 1870?

Does anyone know when Elizabeth Grindstaff Lynn died? The last account I have of her is a land record posted in July 1889 in Greene Co., IN. She was the widow of John Lynn and was living with her married daughter, Eva Bradfield, in the 1880 census of Stockton Twp. Any info on this line would be appreciated.

You know, I think it was probably Iowa after all. In 1870, the family lived in Fulton, Whiteside County, Illinois, which is across the Mississippi from Clinton Co., Iowa, where the town of Lyons is.
Thank you very much for you help!

Thank you very much for your reply. You are right that in 1860, Nathan Moll and his family were in Marion Co., OH, near his wife's parents, and in 1870, in Fulton Co., IL. In 1880, they were in St. Louis, in the 1890s, in Cincinnati. On the 1900 census, Nathan is living by himself in Louisville, KY, and in 1910, he and his new wife are in Evansville, IN.
The certificate says Lyons, IA, and I was under the impression that "IA" meant "Indiana" rather than "Iowa" at that time. Maybe I was wrong and it was Iowa after all!

Is there a book for Walnut Grove Cememtery telling where the relatives are buried, at which plots? I spent an hour searching For my 4th Great Grandfather Yesterday To no Avail. I figure his must be one of the many old and unreadable or damaged stones.. His Name was on the memorial for Vets which stands in the cememtery I know he is there..
Also what can we do to get some kind of marker so future Generations can find him easier... Does anyone know rules for remarking a grave what can be used and so on?
Thanks for the help

Heather,
I thought this would be relatively easy to provide some info, however............
The History of Greene County 1885-1989 [page 137] indicates that the town of Lyons was not platted until 1868. Most of the churches in Lyons/Washington Twp. appear to start up beginning about 1869. Maybe some other, more knowlledgeable, Greene County researchers could shed more light on this.
I looked for Moll & Seuel in the 1860 & 1870 Greene County census, with no luck. I did find your Nathan in Marion Co., OH in 1860 and Fulton Co., IL in 1870 census. Pls let me know if you need that info.

Thanks for the info! I looked through the 1880 census records and found the reference to Joseph you noted, but I interpreted the scrawl of his father's birthplace as Ohio, not SC (very unclear handwriting). I also found "Joe" in his father Samuel's home in the 1870 census in Missouri, and it shows Samuel's birthplace as Ohio. Your info on the 1880 census (which is not indexed in the data I have available) gave me a breakthrough!

I have a baptism record for my great-great-grandmother from March 10, 1867. Her name was Ora Moll, the daughter of Nathan Moll and Mary Smith (Mary's father changed the family name from Schmidt to Smith).
The baptism certificate is all in German, and I think it's Reform Church. (Nathan was confirmed in the German Reform Church in his native Pennsylvania, while Mary was a member of the Lutheran Church in Ohio).
Ora's baptism took place in Lyons, Indiana and is signed by Claus Seuel. Is there any information out there on German churches (Reform, Lutheran, etc.) in Lyons?
Thank you!
