My Great Uncle was Earl "Cotton" Brock. I have a photo of him in a WWI militay uniform. Cotton was white headed from a very young age. I have also found David A. Brock in the 1910 Greene County Indiana Census, Bloomfield district 37 image 34 of 42. Hope this helps.

THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday August 3, 1933, Volume LVII, Number 40, Page 1, Column 5, “T. C. LESTER DIES AT HIS FARM HOME—A Respected Resident Of Taylor Township For Nearly Eighty-five Years—WAS FROM PIONEER FAMILY—Was Progressive Farmer and Business Man, Honest and Religious.”
Taylor township lost a substantial and highly respected citizen by the death of Thomas Clarkston LESTER, familiarly known throughout his life as “Bud” LESTER, which occurred last Saturday morning about 10 o’clock at his home four miles south of Bloomfield. He had sustained a stroke several weeks before.
That he was contented with the community where he lived is shown by the fact that his entire life was spent and the end came within one mile of the place of his birth.
He was a son of Drayton and Eleanor (BLACKMORE) LESTER, whose parents were among the early settlers of the township. He was born October 13, 1848, and consequently he lacked but a few weeks of being eighty-five years old.
In 1882 death claimed his companion, but for the fifty-one years that had elapsed since her death his home had been kept open and made a comfortable and happy abiding place for him through the kindly ministration of friends and members of his family or near relatives.
He had a strong attachment for the home and for the home place—those acres over which he could look with fondness all these years from the home on the hill. He spent little time away from his place, never did he get very far away from it, and his visits became shorter and farther apart as the years crept on.
When he was a boy, upwards of seventy years ago, he became a member of the Methodist Church at Simpson Chapel, and continued to be a faithful worshipper there until the end.
And in his daily life he exemplified the faith he professed. With the “Golden Rule” as his guide he went about doing good but not with the thought of reward except in having a clear conscience.
He was unassuming in his nature, caring little for nothing for show. But as all who dealt with him will bear testimony, he was honest; he made his word good; he was straightforward in all his dealings; and he always showed due consideration for the rights of others.
Surviving is a son, George B. LESTER; and there are also surviving a brother, Francis M. LESTER, and two sisters, Mrs. John HASLER and Mrs. William JEFFERS. Two other sons—Milton LESTER and Randolph LESTER, former well-known residents of that community, preceded their father in death. He leaves also thirteen grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at two o’clock at Simpson Chapel and was conducted by the pastor, the Rev. S. E. STROUD, and the body was laid to rest in the adjacent cemetery. The presence of a large crowd of neighbors and friends bore testimony to the esteem in which he was held by those who knew him best.

John and Josephus were the sons of Newel BROCK, my great grandfather, who lived in Greene County during this time. A third son of Newel's, David, also served in the Civil War, but returned home safely. I have read the write up in Greene and Sullivan Counties by Goodspeed.

I understand that the Daniel Davidson/Davison who married Mary Enoch was from Washington County, VA, not Amelia/Prince Edward County, VA. The Prince Edward Daniel ultimately went to Anson/Montgomery County N. C. and then to Perry County, Tennessee. The Washington County Daniel, however, went to Rowan, N. C. and then to Perry County, Kentucky. These subtle differences have caused apparent confusion with many researchers. I'm not sure how, or even if, these two Daniels are related. I'm also not sure if the Davidson family out of Tazewell County, VA, headed by John Goolman Davidson, is related to either of these two Daniels. If you know, please pass it on. Finally, I'm trying to determine if Cornet William Davidson is a brother to the John Davidson in Prince Edward (i.e., Prince Edward Daniel's father) or if he is related at all. A lot of Davidsons in N. C. and Tennessee (and beyond) are apparently from Coronet William's line (including the famous Rev. War General Willi!
am Lee Davidson whom the counties and the college are named after). Any additional info on the above would be greatly appreciated.

Jerry: Thanks for the reply. George Price and Patience Gastineau were married 7-11-1887 in Greene Co. On the record of returns, he states that this is his second marriage. George died 12-5-1898 (Dishman Cem. Records). I have Patience married to Wm. Snider 2-14-1899. According to your 1910 census, Edward L. would have been born in 1884. Perhaps this was from George's first marriage? I don't have any death date for Patience. I've looked in all the cemetery books of Greene Co. that I own without success. Anything that you think will be of help, I appreciate.

I found some info, but is confusing.
In the 1900 Greene County census, Fairplay Twp., there is a William Snider, age 45, with his wife, Isabel, age 25, with a stepson Edward Price, age 5. According to the enumeration, William & Isabel have been married one year and she has had no children.
In the 1910 Greene county census, Fairplay Twp., there is apparently the same William Snider, age 55, second marriage, married 10 yrs. He is enumerated with his wife, Dora, age 35, second marriage, married 10 years, 2 children total & living. There is a son Carl, age 8 and a stepson, Edward L. Price, age 16. There is a possiblity that Isabel & Dora are the same person, since the age tracks and the birthplaces for herself, father & mother [IN, IN, IL] track from 1900 to 1910.
The Greene County Online Birth Index http://www.bloomfield.lib.in.us/project1/ in Birth248.pdf on Page 4 has two entries for births for a William & Patience Snider: a boy on Nov 10, 1897 and another boy, Llewellyn, on Nov 8, 1899.
It looks like William & Patience may have married before 1899. Did she die before 1900 & William remarried? Or are Patience, Isabell & Dora the same person?
If you want, I can transcribe or send you the census images.

Paul,
I tried some quick checks in the census for your James & Elizabeth, but they are proving somewhat elusive. I found the marriage index listing with a James Brannon. So there could be a lot of possible spellings in the census data: Brannon, Brennon, Brennen, Brandom, Brannum, etc.
Do you have any other clues, like an approximate age for James? Have you been able to find them in the 1880 LDS census data?
