Another fatality occurred Monday in the Wells cut on the new railroad—and that was the second life crushed out in that spot within a week, and both were Italian laborers.
Monday morning at eleven o’clock three Italian laborers were engaged in loading a large stone on a flat car in the cut. For some reason—perhaps the giving away of the air brakes—the car moved and this caused the stone to turn and one of the three laborers—Simona SARDONE by name was caught between the stone and the bank and was fatally crushed, the injury being in the region of the bowels and was internal.
He lingered for twelve hours and passed away. He was fifty-five years of age and leaves a wife and children in Northern Italy. He had been employed on the railroad since November.
The remains were brought to the T. M. RYAN & Son undertaking establishment and were buried Tuesday afternoon in the Bloomfield cemetery.

Kathryn,
Is this Jackson SIMS connected to your line? This is what I have on him
in my files:
I found evidence from the 1870 Greene Co. Beech Creek Twp. census that it
looks like Hamey listed as Laru H. LIVINGSTON living in the household #172 of
Jackson Sims as a Domestic Servant. This was my Ggrandmother whose Mother
Elizabeth Cooper Livingston b. 1820 SC? d. 1861 and Robert F. Livingston b.
ca1824 KY d. 1863 VA. who after her parents both died was left with 4 other
siblings ( another one died in the Civil War, as did her father) and under
the guardianship of Charles Abrams, also a Beech Cr.Twp. neighbor. Just
wondering if you had any information on Hamey Loruh? She married David J.
SKINNER of Beech Creek Twp. 1872.
thanks,

Oh my goodness!! I think we have something here. You sound like you are stuck in the same place I was but from what info you just gave we have the same person and I think we can help each other out. Can you e-mail me at jstducky(a)erols.com so we can exchange info. I can tell you that the name Norris shows up on her death certificate yet her marriage licenses states Summers so I believe the mother remarried at some point. The mother also shows up as Rebecca on some of the documents.
Oh this is great can't wait to hear back from you.
