THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, June 11, 1925, Volume XLIX, Number 31, Page 1, Column 2, “WORTHINGTON WOMAN DIES FOLLOWING LONG ILLNESS.” [Transcribed 27 Dec 2001 from Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library’s IHS Microfilm Records.]
Mrs. A. R. BUNGER, one of Worthington’s oldest and most respected women, died at her home there on Tuesday, June 2, 1925, following a long illness.
Mrs. BUNGER was a daughter of William and Anna MUIR, who were natives of Scotland, and she was born in Indianapolis, on August 2, 1853. Her parents moved to Clay County and resided many years near Howesville.
On May 8, 1873, Sarah MUIR and A. R. BUNGER were married by Rev. Samuel WARD, Presbyterian minister at Howesville. She had joined that church on March 9, 1872. Her church membership was a source of happiness to her. Mr. and Mrs. BUNGER attended services regularly, traveling on horseback, later in carts and wagons and buggies and finally in automobiles, as the changing means of transportation advance.
Mr. and Mrs. BUNGER began housekeeping on a farm four and a half miles south of Howesville, which remained their home for forty years.
In 1908 they moved to Worthington and a year later occupied the home, which they built and in which she passed away.
Mrs. BUNGER is survived by her husband; two daughters, Miss Clarenda BUNGER and Mrs. J. E. STAHL, of Worthington, and a son J. L. BUNGER, of Rocky Fort Colo., and a sister, Mrs. F. M PEAVY.
The funeral services were held last Friday from the M. E. Church at Worthington, the Rev. C. A. MCCULLOUGH, officiating.
Interment was in the Worthington Cemetery.

I know this is a response to an old query but I haven't been doing this very long. I'm a descendant of Beverly Bays through his son Hubbard and Hubbard's second wife Edy James. Their son William Bays married Margaret Lyons Wells. Their daughter Edith married William Harrop and they are my great grandparents. William and Margaret had eight living children and spent the majority of their lives in Wichita KS. My great great Aunt (one of Williams daughters) sent me information about Beverly and Hubbard in the 1960's before there were computers so I believe her info is probably correct. Because of her research I could join the Daughters of 1812. Unfortunately, I wasn't interested then. Too young I guess. Now I'm having a great time finding as much info as I can about all sides of my family. Thank you for all the research you and others have done on the Bays family.

Emma VANSCOYK, daughter, of John and Nancy VANSCOYK, was born October 4, 1852 and departed this life, August 24, 1925, age 72 years, 10 months and 10 days. She was of a family of nine children and only one sister, Mrs. Belle GILLILAND, is left to mourn her loss. Another sister, Mrs. Clara {SHERTZER} passed away only one week before. She was united in marriage to Washington QUILLEN, March 29, 1883 and to this union five children were born, one dying only a few days old. The others, Forrest and Elmer QUILLEN, Mrs. Grace CARMICHAEL, Mrs. Nannie DOWDEN and five grandchildren Farrell DOWDEN, Burgess CARMICHAEL, Vera CARMICHAEL, Frances DOWDEN, Jewell DOWDEN and a host of friends and relatives await the time when all shall be gathered at the throne of God where there shall be neither death no sorrow. The parting of Emma QUILLEN from this life was only to join her husband in the life beyond, he having proceeded only five months ago.
She lived three miles northeast of Bloomfield and had many friends. It was always a pleasure to her to have her friends visit her. She united with the Christian Church at Bloomfield when quite a young girl but in 1915 removed her membership to the Furnace Church. She had an unfaltering trust in her Savior and all through her long illness her belief was strengthened and who often spoke of her death as going home. It was only her passing from her loved ones here to join her loved ones over there. If there be no death, there can be no everlasting life; if life is so sweet here on this earth, life with God, where there can be no sin, death or sorrow, where there is no night for God is light in a city of gold and jewels. We must all pay the price, for the wages of sin is death. Through Adam we are all born in sin and in Jesus Christ alone can we obtain eternal life through death.
Funeral was held at 2:300 Tuesday at the home of Elder T. A. COX. Interment in the Grandview Cemetery.
