Surname: Stalcup, Lemmon
-------------------------
Abraham C. Lemmon who married Lucy Ann Roe and Isaac Stalcup who married
Martha Rowe September 19, 1839, in Greene Co.,Indiana were first cousins.
Abraham's mother Mary 'Polly' Stalcup and Isaac's father, James Stalcup,
were siblings. Grandfather, Isaac Stalcup, was a pioneer settler in Highland
Township.
The Lemmons had migrated from Highland Township to Crawford County, Illinois
by 1850. Isaac & Martha Stalcup were living in Richland Twp., adjacent
to Highland Twp., where his father ,James, still lived,in 1850.
James & Mourning Rowe[spelled ROE in 1850 Census] are living in Highland
Twp. There are ROE, ROW, & ROWE spellings for this name in Greene Co.,IN
data. I have also found the same STALCUP ancestors with a STALLCUP and
STALKUP spelling in different records. All of these ROWE individuals are
probably related, but I haven't found out how just yet.

Thank you Bill for the information and here are two more sources.
If you have an LDS Family History Center in your area you can order the WPA
index of Greene Co. Births, Marriages, and Deaths (Hatch, Match, and
Dispatch) to be read there. You have a choice of from 30 days up to
indifinate loan.
LDS film #0462701 Index to Marriage, Birth, and Death Records of Greene Co.,IN
The index is also on AGLL film #ZI 21-0019 and listed under Indiana, Greene,
Vital Records. This is now available through Heritage Quest 1-800-760-2455 or
E-mail : sales(a)heritagequest.com. I have done a lot of business with them
over the phone and they are great people to do business with.
The Greene Co. Genealogy Society has published the Marriage Records Index but
I'm not sure what others they have done by now.
Since my ancestors, HAYWOOD, FAUCETT, RUTH, AND BURCHAM came to Greene County
in the early 1800s I find it useful to have my own copies of indexes.
To supplement this message, Greene Co marriage records are available in
several locations:
All marriages up to 1850 are available on the Internet
Many Greene Co records are available on microfilm at the Genealogy
Section of the Indiana State Library (317-232-7763). These include
marriage records from 1821-1911 (mainly by groom index with a few years
missing); will & probate records deed indexes and records, delayed birth
records, and naturalizations. I believe they will do some searching but
I don't know how much (or how much)
Like most counties, there is a comprehensive set of marriage records
prepared by the WPA which are available in many locations in the state
Charles Franklin has published at least 2 booklets on Greene Co.
marriages covering 1821-1844 and 1845-1852. These are available from Ye
Olde Genealogie Shoppe 9605 Vandergriff Rd, Indianapolis 46239.
Franklin has published a variety of other booklets on Greene Co, e.g.,
Deaths 1822-1889, and a number of other counties
Colleen Ridlen (2160 Mann Dr, Beech Grove, IN 46107-1653) has 2 booklets
on Greene Co.; Deaths 1822-1889; and Marriages 1821-1844. She has
similar information on many other counties.
Hope this helps,
Bill Stanley

I thought I'd be lucky and find his birthday, but they were blank for both of
the Jenkins, and Brady list. I will send for this as that may tell me
something else I need to know. if you have one of these that is in these
records I can look up the name, and get the book and page # for you. I would
put the page on the genconnect page, if there was a marriage board. Don't
know where else to try, I can do the Indiana Archives, like I do my KY lines.
Teddy
I ran across the following marriages for Greene County,
Dixson, Samuel H. Dover, Joicy Dec 29 1842
Dixson, Samuel Wolf, Manerva Sep 30 1847
Does anyone know if these are the same person? My relation is through Joicy
Dover.
Thanks for any help.
What about Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne? As the largest public
genealogical library in the country, perhaps they do lookups or offer a list
of individuals who will. They have actually expanded their department in
the past year or so.
