Is anyone working on the Bough family who resided in Greene County,

Please consider this info as just a guide and not perfect! I may have
missed a Flynn/Flin etc! I kept the spelling of names as the census
taker wrote it but a typo could slip in here or there.

I checked the Greene Co., IN 1880 census but did not find a Greenberry

some Talley/Tally families and copied some info.

As you can see I was a bit rushed at the end so had to quickly jot
info. missed the page # on that last one!
There may be some I missed esp. on the pages where the census taker was
"spelling challenged".

I tried to email Betty Cox who had stated that the email addresses had
changed from viaduct to custom.net, which her add is.....and it came back to
me too, so there must be some sort of major problem with the server down
there.

Has anyone considered Stockton township, Greene County? Point
Commerce is well documented. It was, however, in a different location
than Worthington is, although just "up river" a bit.
Thanks! I was trying to help someone on this list who was looking for
Stockton, Indiana. Will post this to that list.

About Stockton, I have:
In 1852 John Ridge helped survey the town of Stockton, Owen
County, Indiana
located
Section 12 Town 9 north Range 6 west consisting of
16 lots
Known as Davidsburg until 1854
(History of Owen County (Ind) Jefferson Twp pg
729)

Stan,
You mis- understood me. I did not say that Scotland was once named
Stockton. Merely that the names sounded the similar. The fact that
Worthington used to be called Point Commerce is written down and was given
to me by the Mayors secretary in Linton. Long long time before my time :)
I received an email which said that there is a Stockton, Indiana in Owen
County. Just trying to help.

Is Diane Drogich no longer around? Come to think of it I've not seen posts
from her in awhile. Hope everything is okay.

Here is a little bit of history that I just found out. Worthington was
originally name Port Commerce and Linton was originally named New Jerusalem.
Lyons started out with the name Mudsock. Guess you can figure out why. I
am checking the old records for a Stockton, Greene Co., Indiana. It is
possible that it went the way of Bushrod and Beehunter, although they are
still listed on the map. Another possibility may be that it was a
miss-spelling. Stockton sounds a little like Scotland. If I find the
location of a town named Stockton, I will post it for you.

I am researching the surname HERRING. My husband's
g-grandmother, Martha Ann HERRING, married George
William SHOPTAW on April 14, 1883 in Greene County.
Her date of birth is November 12, 1849. Her father's
name was Fielding SHOPTAW.
Judi, is there a possible connection here?

I have finally uploaded some of my Brazzle info. I
will add more as time permits. Related families
are: Carpenter, Benham, Lamar, Street, Singleton,
Boettcher, Huffman, Hannah and more. Not all the
info is online yet. Please email me if you have
more to add. Karen
Brief info on my family:
Joshua Brazzle, Jr.(born 1842 in Greene Co, IN)
married Sarah Jane Gano and when she died, he
married her sister, Rachel Gano-- daughters of
Robert Gano and Phebe Newland Gano. Joshua's
children are:
Robert, John, Mary Ann, Susan, Rhodabell, Liza,
Phoebe, Sara, Elizabeth, William, Fanny, Rosetta,
Rosanna, Marg, and Phillip. He lived near Hollenberg,
KS from about 1880 .
His father's name was Joshua Brazzle, Sr. He died
in Harrison Co, Missouri in 1858. Mother's name was
Nancy Quillen Brazzle.
Joshua Brazzle, Sr. parents are believed to be
William and Sarah Brazzle from Greene Co. Indiana,
but I haven't been able to prove this. Also, Joshua
Sr. brothers are believed to be: Joseph, Samuel and
William.
Anyone out there researching these Brazzle's? Other
spellings thru the years are: Brazil, Brassel,
Brassle, Brazle,etc.
Thanks, Karen
