I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as the children of Bell BOGUE
DOGE which was taken at the J. C. Wilson Studio in Cherokee, Iowa. The
photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with the children
appearing to be about infant to 4 years old at the time. In addition to the
their Mother's name, someone has also written "She was Uncle Jim BOGUE'S
baby when he married Sister Mary WARNER" on the back of the photograph.
Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information
regarding this family:
James Shiverly BOGUE was b. 4 Aug 1847 in Grant Co. IN to parents Jesse
BOGUE (b. 18 Mar 1800 in Greensboro, NC) and Ann Elisa WEBB (b. 15 May
1822). The couple was married on 19 Jun 1840 in Wayne Co. IN and together
they had 12 children including, Zachary; John H.; Ruth Jane; Orange Scott;
James Shiverly; Catherine; Adaline E.; Gula Elma; Martha; Iowa; Celia; and
William Ira BOGUE all born between 1840 and 1858 in Grant Co. IN; Marion,
IN; and Fayette Co. IA.
Belle BOGUE was the daughter of James Shiverly BOGUE and his first wife,
Mary E. FOLSON whom he married on 18 Feb 1869. James' second wife was Mary
WARNER (b. 1853) who he married in Strawberry Point, IA in 1872. James and
Mary had 5 children including, Minnie B.; Lutie L.; Bert; Grace V.; and
Jessie BOGUE. James BOGUE died 15 May 1908 in Newport, NE.
Belle BOGUE married Milo DODGE (b. 25 Apr 1866 in Albany, WI) with whom
Belle had 7 children including, Grace Irene; Lawrence E.; Letha L.; Mary S.;
Blanche E.; Ruth J.; and Harold B. DODGE all born between 1891 and 1910.
I am hoping to locate someone from Belle's family so that this wonderful old
photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of
this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
