Dora, you can search online for the Grant county histories, they have been scanned and are
available for free. You can also search the Marion Public Library's online database
for records.
http://gen.marion.lib.in.us just click on search. The records are available
at the library or you can contact us for copies at $2 each.
http://www.marion.lib.in.us/Departments/email2.aspx. You can also request copies from the
county histories as well. Or if you are close, visit the library.

Subject: [INGRANT] Need lookup at
countyhistory.com
I need a lookup of Isaac Hamilton, at
countyhistory.com, which is a subscription database
of the Indiana County History Preservation Society. It is $10/ year, but I flat out
don’t have it at the moment. I am trying to help a distant Y DNA match of my brother’s
with her genealogy; her father doesn’t match either of the two families her line has been
traced to.
Google is finding pertinent information at a web site called
countyhistory.org, which I
suspect is a fake copy of the
countyhistory.com web site. Here is what it shows me.
Evidently after copying the site some outfit in eastern Europe infected atleast two thirds
of the pages on the site with a virus.
Whatever you do, now, DO NOT FOLLOW THIS LINK. In fact, I removed the hyperlink; you
can’t click on the link.

apt. Isaac Hamilton was born in Rockingham County, Virginia, October 5, 1814, and is the
second son of James and Elizabeth (Castle) Hamilton; parents both ...
I want the rest of the biography including any particular evidence as to who his parents
were – since his grandson doesn’t match the Y DNA of James’ alleged father either.
Isaac was born Oct 5, 1814, according to assorted death records, he was born in Virginia,
he married in Ohio in 1839, and lived in Grant County, Indiana, by 1850 (and probably
sooner). He died 12 Dec 1899, leaving a whole bunch of death notices that I don’t have
immediate access to either. He served in the Civil War from Indiana.
Thanks!
Yours,
Dora Smith
