The earliest Grant County Winslow that I have is Henry Winslow, b. 8/25/1771
in Symons Creek, Pasquotank, NC; d. 1/29/1849 in Grant Co., IN.
He was the son of Thomas Winslow (b. 1/8/1744/1745 in Perquimans, NC; d.
6/29/1826 in Perquimans, NC) and Elizabeth Phelps (b. 1750, in Randolph, NC;
d. 1/14/1807). They wed on 1/13/1768 in Perquimans, NC. I have more info on
their ancestors, if anyone needs it.
Henry m. Elizabeth Needham (b. abt. 1773; d. abt. 1820) on 7/30/1794 in Back
Creek MM, Randolph Co., NC.
Henry and Elizabeth had a daughter, Miriam Winslow (b. 2/26/1807; d. 11/9/1855
in Grant Co., IN), who m. William Cox (b. 4/22/1803; d. 6/8/1867 in Grant Co.,
IN) on 1/15/1829. Miram is bur. in Oak Ridge Friends Cemetery, Grant Co., IN.
Henry and Elizabeth had four children:
Elizabeth Cox, b. 8/13/1831 in NC
Julia Ann Cox, b. 2/22/1834 in Randolph Co., NC
Emily Cox, b. 12/10/1837.
Martha Cox, b. 2/17/1846 in IN; d. 12/9/1883 in Wabash Co., IN; bur in Oak
Ridge Friends Cem., Grant Co., IN.
Martha m. Stephen Scott (b. 12/25/1849 in Grant Co., IN; d. 12/10/1930) on
9/7/1867 in Grant Co., IN.
Martha and Steven had a duaghter, Evy Scott, who was b. and d. on 7/10/1868
and is also buried in Oak Ridge Friends Cem.
Steven was the son of James Scott (b. 12/26/1814 in Wayne Co., IN; d.
11/27/1902 in Liberty Twp., Grant Co., IN) and Annis Arnett (b. 2/9/1819 in
Wayne Co., IN; d. 1/28/1892 in Liberty Twp., Grant Co., IN). Both are buried
in Park Cem. in Fairmount, Grant Co., IN.
The roots of this Scott clan can be traced back to Robert the Bruce and
beyond, and I have much more on the Arnetts, Scotts, and Moons (Nathan Brown
Moon and Leah Schooley Harrold, both of whom d. in Grant Co.in the 1860's, and
their children: Andrew H. Moon, Mary Elizabeth Moon, Evaline Ruth Moon and
Joel Moon) are some of the ones I have info on. Evaline is my
2nd-great-grandmother.
Hopefully this info will help someone. Let me know what additional info you'd
like or connections you'd like to explore.
