Hi Terre,
I was able to obtain a copy of some of the records that still exist for an
aunt of mine who was at this hospital in the early 1920's. I did have to
"prove" that I was related to the patient -- through marriage licenses and
such. But the process was not time consuming and I did glean some info from
the records I was sent.
You can contact the Indiana State Archives at
arc(a)icprlan.state.in.us
to obtain photocopies of any records they might have for your GGM.
The Central State Hospital is located in Indianapolis, Marion County,
Indiana.
Hope this helps.

Hi Folks,
I'm new to this list, and am curious whether any of you have had any luck
obtaining patient commitment and/or other medical records from the IN
Archives from the above institution? I just learned that my GGM was
committed there sometime before 1910 ... she shows up on the1910 and 1920
fed. census as being there, and she died in 1923, most likely there.
Any tips on obtaining these records, etc. will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Terre Mingus
