Hi Bobbi,
The earliest Chapman I have is Asabel b: 23 Jan 1794 in Union, South
Carolina. His wife was Mary Pusey. Both died in Lynchburg, Highland County,
Ohio - Asabel in 1881 and Mary in 1959.
Their son, William P. Chapman b: 03 Oct 1816 married Nancy Jane Duckwall and
the lived in Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio.
They moved first to Grant County, Indiana, then on up to Starke County.
I see that Asabel's father, Isaac was from Pennsylvania - if we have a
common ancestor, it would probably be in that area.
Good luck!
Marc

Marc,
Thanks for asking, but I don't think our families connect. I have two
CHAPMAN families. The
first was from Scotland, in Glasgow in 1812, Dalmuir in 1831, then to CT
in 1851. The other was in NJ in the
mid 1700's and worked it's way west across OH and into Daviess Co. IN in
the 18teens or
20's. The first family had just one son in the US, and I can account for
all his descendants.
The second family was very large and I can't begin to account for its
descendants. The two
sons in Daviess Co. were William and Elijah. If any of this looks
familiar, let me know -
there's lots I don't know about either family!
Bobbi
