http://www.countyhistory.com/doc.grant/352.htm says of Rachel:
Amos [Holloway] , our subject, came with his parents to Grant County, Ind., when fourteen
years of age. He was married in Van Buren Township, this county, September 8, 1861, to
Rachel H. Moon. She was born in Clinton County, Ohio, December 12, 1833, and was a
daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Hockett) Moon. After his marriage he settled upon land
in Section 17, Monroe Township, where he has since resided. He enlisted in the service of
his country in February, 1865, in Company G, one hundred and fifty-third Indiana
Volunteers, and served until the close of the war. His wife died April 17, 1880, and he
was again married in Center Township, this county, January 30, 1884, to Mary E. Hodson.
Mr. Holloway is the father of seven children: Lydia A., Dennis J. (deceased), Nettie A.,
Walter T., Oris C., Sarah D. by his first wife, and Jason W. by last wife.
Based on the above, I surmise that the 1860 date is correct and the 1886 date is in error
because (1) Amos remarried in 1884 and (2) the 1833-1880 birth and death dates is close (5
days off) the y/m/d info.
