Subject: Jemima McEldowney Mann, wife of Christopher Mann
I am trying to dtermine what happened to Jemima McEldowney
Mann, 2nd wife of Christopher DeWitt Mann, both of whom were
resident in Marion, Grant Co. in the 1890s and early 1900s.
Christopher, for sure, lived there through the 1880s and Jemima
probably did, living with either her son Enos Elonzo McEldowney
or the family of Alice D. McEldowney Frazier, wife of Eli Frazier.
Christopher's first wife died in early 1894 in Marion.
In late 1894, he married Jemima when she was approx. 54 and he was
approx. 63. In 1903 or 1904, he moved to CA to live with his
son. There is absolutlely no indication Jemima accompanied him
to CA. So it would appear that either she died prior to 1903-04
or they were divorced.
Can anyone shed any light on what happened or when it
happened. For instance, a 1900 census entry for Christopher
would help immensely. If Jemima is nptlisted, then that
narrows down the occurence to 1894-1900. If not, then after
1900 wouldbe the the appropriate time period to concentrate on.
Obviously, a divorce record or a death record or an obit for
Jemima would be even more conclusive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am grasping
at straws now, all previous research paths having totally
dried up. Help!
