To All Concerned Estes/Eastes Family Members:
Hi Everyone -
According to the many letters I have received, our "Eastes Family Historical
Records Bank" Web Site at www.eastes.org has been a great
success! It was
announced on the 15th of September and in less than 30 days there were 500
visitors and the site was not finished yet!
This is to notify all of you of a pending transfer in ownership of this Web
Site. This event is occurring sooner than expected but I knew it would
eventually come to this point. My health has reached a level where I cannot
manage the web site or continue with very little work. If there are any
questions about the family or the web site, please let me know, I will help
all I can.
Since the site was implemented, I have received a few corrections, omissions
and some additional information. This will all be passed to the new Web
Master and incorporated as time permits.
The new keeper of the Eastes Records Bank will be Dr. Sharon Kingen, a
descendant of Obadiah Eastes who lives in Hancock County, IN. Sharon has
helped me tremendously in the past and some of her research is quoted on the
web site under Obadiah. This transition is a slow process and is already in
progress. Sharon manages a large farm and is on the staff at Ball State
University. Like everyone, she has a very full schedule. I have sent her
copies of all the Estes/Eastes computer records and those of the associated
families. The new web site owner has my permission to change anything
contained in the site. I have recommended some changes such as removing the
Copyright Notice. This was never intended to be permanent but a preliminary
warning to those who copy genealogical records for resale.
If everything goes according to our plans, this conversion will be effective
about 1 January 2002.
Here are the addresses where Sharon can be reached. I have sent her all the
addresses of my contacts over the years and that of the web site
contributors. If your address, E Mail or home address changes, please keep
her up to date.

My research of the family for some 50 + years has been a real enjoyment! I
appreciate the friendship, help and support you have given me over the years.
I also express my gratitude to my nephew, David W. Eastes who has done such a
great job converting all of our records into the web site.Without your
support and David's efforts, the web site could not exist! We hope the site
will continue to grow and be perpetuated forever! I sincerely hope all of you
will give Sharon the same cooperation and support that I have enjoyed over
the years.
I guess I will have my hand into family history as long as I am able to lift
a finger
to the keyboard. To stay occupied I am still working some with the data I
have collected on Berniece's - Maloy Family line. I received a letter this
morning from a newpaper columnist in Ft Walton Beach, FL that gives our web
site a boost! The article can be seen at: <A
