Hello Fellow Grant Co., IN Researchers!!!
I'm new to your list, & am hoping (&, of course, expecting) to find info on
my Grant Co. families.
In the 1860 & 1870 Washington twp., Grant Co., IN Censuses, I found the
following family (names & approx. birth year info depends on which of the
two censuses I gleaned the info from):
Benjamin Miley/Myley--b. ca.1824, PA
Sarah/Susan Miley/Myley--b. 1832/33, OH
Augustus Carnall/Cornell--b. ca.1853--IN
Joseph Miley/Myley--b. ca.1858, IN
Jane Miley/Myley--b. ca.1861, IN
Margaret Miley/Myley--b. ca.1863, IN
Isabella Miley/Myley--b. ca.1866, IN
Grace Miley/Myley--b. ca.1868, IN
Augustus & Joseph were the only children in the household with Benj. &
Sarah/Susan Miley/Myley in the 1860 census. The only info I have on this
family comes from these 2 censuses.
I am hoping the above Augustus Carnall/Cornell is my husband's
Great-Grandfather August Carnall, b. 15 Aug 1851, Newville, IN. The
earliest I've POSITIVELY found Bud's August Carnall is in the 1880
Census--Lincoln twp., Crawford Co., KS---August moved there from IN in 1878.
If the Augustus Carnall/Cornell listed with the Miley/Myley family above is
Bud's GG, then one explanation could be that Benjamin is his step-father, &
Sarah/Susan is his mother, possibly widowed. I know nothing about Bud's
August Carnall's parents except his father was born in OH or France, & his
mother was born in OH or NY.....birthplace info comes from later censuses
concerning August as head of household. Coincidence or not, Bud's GG named
one of his sons Benjamin.
Can anyone help me with any of the above people?
Thank you ahead of time,
Donna Tice-Carnall
