MRS. BROWN CALLED BY DEATH
Member of Christian Church for Three-Fourths of a Century
Sarah Jane, daughter of Collins and Mary Maddux, was born in Pickaway County, Ohio,
September 6, 1832, and died April 19, 1915, aged 83 years, 7 months, and 13 days. Early in
life she united with the Christian Church and for almost three-fourths of a century she
walked the straight and narrow way.
September 15, 1850, she was united in marriage with William T. Brown, who died Dec. 22,
1861. To this union were born eight children, three of whom have preceded her to the
promised land.
In 1878, with her family, she came to Indiana where she spent the rest of her life. She
was married to Henry [Noah] Hildebrand Oct. 10, 1891 [actually it most likely was 21 sep
1890], who died Nov. 28, 1903 [actually was 1892].
[She was also married to a man by the last name of Timmons after the death of her first
husband, William Brown. If anyone has any info on this marriage, or any info on her
children William R. Brown, J.A. Brown and Mary Brown, please e-mail me.]
