MR. AND MRS. ANCIL E. RATLIFF
On Tuesday, August 13th, Mr. and Mrs. Ancil Ratliff will celebrate
their Golden Wedding Anniversary and will be at home to their friends at
their residence at 521 West Second Street in Fairmount from 2:00 to 5:00

The wedding of this worthy couple took place August 13th, 1885, at the
home of the late Mahlon Harvey, father of Mrs. Ratliff, whose residence was
in Liberty township, now the home of Russel[Russell T.] Harvey. Mr. and
Mrs. Ratliff began housekeeping on the farm now owned by William Jones, in
an old log cabin. Mr. Ratliff has farmed most all of his life and until
about ten years ago when he moved to Fairmount, lived on his farm in the
Little Ridge neighborhood. He has been honored by the voters of Grant
county by being elected for one term in the Indiana Geeral Assembly and
three terms as county surveyor. In 1898 Mr. Ratliff became a member of the
Board of Trustees of Fairmount Academy and continued to serve until 1933
when the Acadmey was consolidated with the Fairmount high school.
The six children will all be present as well as all the seventeen
grandchildren, except Joseph and Ruth Seale, now in California.
The Fairmount News wishes to join with the host of Friends in extending
our congratulations to Ancil and Ruth on this happy occasion.
