Hi Everyone!
I am happy to announce that the web site _www.estes-eastes.org_
(
http://www.estes-eastes.org/) is back up and running with a new upgrade.
This upgrade was made to correct errors in the original data. The source of
the information containing the errors was taken in good faith from Family
Group Sheets sent by another researcher. The errors were found in the Notes
Section for Benjamin Estes who married Cecelia Thorpe and their son Joel.
When rechecking the sources, it was easy to see how the origional mistake
was made. When you look at the site now under the Notes for Benjamin Estes son
of Abraham 04 and his son Joel you will find the following:
51. _Benjamin Estes_
(
http://estes-eastes.org/heritage3/pafg07.htm#5852)
Source: The book, Estes Genealogies by Charles Estes - Page 361
Para 3644.
The children of Benjamin Estes and Cecelia Rebecca Thorpe are
show in the
order presented in Estes Genealogies.
Another researcher says the same information is found in the
book
Cary-Estes Genealogy by May Folk Webb & Patrick Mann Estes.
118. _Joel Estes_ (
http://estes-eastes.org/heritage3/pafg09.htm#5818)
In the book, Estes Genealogies by Charles Estes Page 261, para 3644 Benjamin
Estes. It states that Joel Estes son of Benjamin was born in Bedford Co., TN
22 January 1780. This is an error as Bedford Co., TN was not created until
1806/7.
On the same page in para 3660, Joel Estes - its states that Joel was born 22
January 1780 in Bedford Co., VA which is much more realistic. - Roy Eastes,
Compiler.
This is an example how easy it is to make a mistake and that no references
are infallible. There are errors in the book Estes Genealogies but when we
realize that it was compiled before 1894, (before computers) we have to admit
that Charles Estes did an amazing job!
Here as another error that was corrected:
282. _Henry Cary Estes_ (
http://estes-eastes.org/heritage3/pafg09.htm#5821)
In the book Estes Genealogies by Charles Estes, page 262, para 3663, says -
Henry Cary Estes b: Bedford Co, VA - 9 January 1889. This is an error as it
further states that he died in the Winter of 1839. He was probably born in
1809 and this was a typographical error.

We hope these are the only errors in the web site. However I will say it
again, there has probably never been a book or compilation of family history
written without errors and probably never will be! We must be diligent in our
recording and have patience with others in making corrections.
The web site originally went on line on 22 June 2005 and was upgraded on 8
July. During these 16 days there were 332 visitors to the site! The counter
has been reset to 0 on the upgrade.
I apologize for your inconvenience!

I am happy to announce that we made it through Tropical Storm Cindy with
only 8 inches of rain. Now we are battening down the hatches as Hurricane Dennis
is on the way! We have found over the years that the paths of these storms
can change in just a couple of hours and the direction shift away OR toward
you at the last minute! The present path puts Gulfport, MS on the western edge
but who knows this far in advance!
Berniece is getting along great from a hip fracture incurred in a fall on 15
May. She is able to be up in a wheel chair and starting on her walker.
Best Regards to all --
