Helen,
We knew Carl Crabtree, when I was a kid at Owensville. I especially remember him passing
our house going from Owensville to Princeton on his scooter. He was disabled in later
years, and went everywhere on his 3-wheeler. He taught in the Phillipines after the
Spanish-American War, along with my aunt and uncle James and Nella (Short) McGregor, and
Nella's sister aunt Grace Short, who later married a Ponzer. The Owensville
"Smith" book of clippings shows that Carl went to the Phillipines in 1903 and
returned in 1915. I can't find a cemetery record for Carl or Dovie. I'm
wondering if maybe he was in the Spanish American War, as was my uncle James McGregor, and
that he may have died in a retirement home for vets of that war.
By the way, probably what you really wanted, the parents of Carl and Dovie are shown in
Ancestry.com as William Harrison Crabtree (1855-1915) and Catherine Hunter (1857-1933).
They are buried in the Owensville Cem.
