Helen and all who replied to her inquiry.
The responses definitely have zeroed in on the approximate location. It
does not appear that there is any trace of the actual "station" which
appears to never have been more than flag stop on the old railroad, as
reported in Tartt's History.
The coordinates for the Wilson Cemetery are below. It is clearly marked on
Google Maps (See Satellite view) for clear aerial view. It is only
accessible from the west along what is now an abandoned section of CR 950,
now dirt farm road; the bridge over Black River to the east was washed out
several years ago and the county decided not to rebuild it.
About 2100 feet east of the Wilson Cemetery along path of CR950 is where the
C&EI railroad ran north/south going between Cynthiana to Owensville. To get
there easily, approach from SR 68, drive west down CR950 about 3400 feet;
this is still a decent gravel road. The former railroad bed path can still
be seen. (I walked a short portion of the old path a few years ago looking
for what was reported to be a small burial plot in that vicinity.)

Just west of the Wilson Cemetery is the elevated berm that was the line of
the old Big 4 railroad that ran from Evansville to Mt. Carmel, IL. The old
underpass for the road still is in place.
By the way, it indeed has been a long time since there was any activity on
the Gibson Rootsweb List. I have no "control" of it and whoever set it up,
evidently has long ago faded from the scene.
Thanks again to all my friends who pitched in to solve this mystery.

I corresponded with you on the Crabtree/Saulmon family several years ago.
Off hand, I can't tell you exactly where Knowles Station is, but since
I have approximately 68 Knowles names in my database, I should be able
to refer you to sombody who does know. It's probably on the old Big 4
railroad line that enters Gibson Co at Mt Carmel and passes through
Johnson. There are several Knowles properties that lie along that
railroad, either currently or in the past. There are 2 Knowles
cemeteries between Owensvile and Cynthiana. I would first contact Dan
Elliott, the Gibson/Posey Genweb co-ordinator. He photographed every
tombstone in Gibson Co., so is pretty familiar with that area. His
email is delliott.gibson.ingenweb(a)gmail.com. If he can't help you, I
have some contacts named Knowles that I can check with.I'm always glad
to help with anything Gibson Co.Gerald L (Jerry) Spore

Subject: [INGIBSON] knowles station
I am working on my Crabtree line from Posey/Gibson CO, and have an
ancestor, Elizabeth A. Crabtree md to Hiram Knowles (he was her second
husband). In the old news articles I have been reading, Knowles
Station
is mentioned. I used to live east of Cynthiana, on the
Posey/Gibson
line, and was wondering if anyone knew where Knowles Station was.
