Hello,
I am glad to see this new list!!! I am researching the Thomas POTTER (b.
1799 in NC) family who were in Gibson Co. by the early 1820's. They then
moved on to Marion Co. IL c1853 although family rumor has it that a couple
of sons may have stayed. Would love to contact anyone else working on this
family or the family of his wife Mary Ann MARSHALL (b. 1806). They were
married 3 Nov. 1825 in Gibson Co. Thomas' parents Thomas and Ruth POTTER
may also have lived in Gibson Co. I have that Mary Ann's brothers were Dr.
Hubbard Marshall and Van Randolph Mashall. and her oldest sister was Savilla
Marshall Jones. A Thomas Potter bought land in Section 3, T 4S, R 9W. In
a letter sent to a former family researcher, mention was made that the
family moved to IL when a canal was being built next to their land and the
neighborhood got a little too wild.
