Hello Deborah and others,
While talking to Bonnie in the Genealogy Dept, she left me with the
impression that this address was not to be circulated or published, as she
and Betty can barely keep up with the requests they receive by mail and
phone. This computer is located in a separate research room, and the
e-mail is not checked on a regular basis. They plan on eventually being
on-line, but need more volunteers to help answer the mail it will most
likely generate. If you have resource materials for Gibson County and
would be willing to do lookups, they will be looking for more volunteers to
help. Or if you live in the area and can spare an hour or two a week to
help in the Genealogy room, I am sure they would appreciate the help.
You can also volunteer to do lookups on the Gibson County GenWeb page at:
http://www.usroots.com/~jmurphy/gibson/gibson.htm
Much of the information available at the library can be found on-line here,
or there is a list of lookup volunteers that will help you in your search,
that have access to Marriage and Census records, County History books, etc.
The lookup page is at:
http://www.usroots.com/~jmurphy/gibson/lookups.htm
The Surname Index can also be searched from the main page for persons
willing to do lookups on a particular surname.
Ernie
