Hi Rita,
In reading about Poor Farms or County Farms as they often were called,
they usually housed men and women who had no family to call for them. One
wing was for women, another for men. I don't know of any orphaned
children that would be there. Usually larger cities within that county or
near-by county would have an orphanage where children could be placed.
As to records, good luck. You might hit upon census records of a poor
farm that would give who lived there. Some counties were not good at
keeping a list of their "inmates" as they were often listed. Helen Zuber

HANDLEY, THOMASSON, BIGGERSTAFF, ZUBER, GUTEKUNST/GOODART, ANTHIS, BANGERT,

hubby's side the families of MEHRINGER, SCHITTER/SCHUETTER, HOCHGESANG,

some side-lines).

Subject: [INGIBSON] Records + Poor farms 1800's
Do any records exist for residents of the county farm for
gibson
county?
Would orphan children be listed there?
Thank you.
